There are a lot of criminal acts you can perform in the game, but all of them come with an associated bounty, which willput you up against the city guard. What Are Crimes in Oblivion Remastered?
Stealing itemsorhorses,pickpocketingorlockpicking,trespassingorjailbreaking, andassaultingorkillinga non-hostile NPC are all actions that are considered crimes inOblivion Remastered.
Each of these actions will incur a bounty on your head depending on the severity of the crime. Murdering someone is the most severe crime, though self-defense is allowed. The second most severe crime is stealing a horse. Stealing items can get you a really high bounty as well, depending on the value of the stolen goods.
What Happens When You Commit A Crime in Oblivion Remastered?
Once a bounty is placed on your head, you willbecome a target of the guards. Whenever you’re within range, they will try to engage you in a talk, giving you three options. Go to jail, pay the fine, or resist arrest.
The fine is always equal to your bounty. If you don’t have enough gold to pay the fine, you won’t see the dialogue option. you’re able to check your bounty in the Details section of your Character menu.
The items in your inventory that are stolen are indicated by the red hand next to them. You can avoid losing them by storing them in a secure location, such as your house.
How To Yield and Stop The Guards from Attacking You in Oblivion Remastered
When you resist arrest,the guards will get out their weaponsand rush towards you, attacking you with the intent to kill. However, you can stop them from attacking you if you yield to them. Doing so will trigger the arrest dialogue from the guard if they accept your yield.
To yield, you simply need to press the block button (Right Mouse Button for PC) and the interact key (E) at the same time while near the guard. They might not accept your yield in certain situations, such as if you’re in the middle of a jailbreak.
If you kill a guard while resisting arrest, it will count towards your bounty.
How to Break Out of Jail in Oblivion Remastered
When you’re arrested, you will wake up in your cell with nothing but a single lockpick andsome rags as clothes. To escape, you need to open your cell’s door somehow, get your possessions, and exit the jail without dying. Here’s what you should do:
You will still have the same bounty on your head that you started with,plus some additional bountyaccrued from the jailbreak if you’re successful, so there’s no real benefit to executing a jailbreak. Either resist arrest in the first place, or serve your sentence in its entirety.
