Patrolling inThe Precinctcomes in different forms as the player makes progress in the game and climbs up the ranks. With criminals expanding their operations in Averno City, the police department introduces new types of shifts to support civilians, but players only get four random shifts every time they start a new day of work.
This could be a little bit disappointing not to get the shifts you would like to experience, which is why the game comes with a Custom Shift option, allowing players to craft a shift with their own preferences and adjust its tiny details to their liking.
How To Make Shifts Longer In The Precinct
The players can only customize their shifts when theyhit Police Office 1. So, if you are still a rookie, try toaccumulate as much XP as you canto rank up quickly and become a Police Officer.
Once you hit the required level,Custom Shiftwill be available. Whenever you get to choose a shift at the start of the day, a small option will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen to customize your shifts.
This option allows for choosing the type of shift as well as its variant, the preferred region, the start time, and finally the duration. The longest duration you can set for a shift is24 hours, which is an entire day. Taking these kinds of shifts will allow players to have a lot of time for patrolling,dealing with many criminals, and eventually earning a lot of XP.
However, keep in mind that when you go with a Custom Shift, the milestones to unlock new regions for the shift will not be applied anymore. The random shifts always come with a milestone, hitting which unlocks a new region for the same shift the next day. But this won’t be a thing with Custom Shifts.
So, it’s recommended that players complete the random offers for certain shifts until all their regions are unlocked, and once the shift has no milestone to offer, they can just move over to the custom shift. This is beneficial when the entry-level shift has a small area of cover, which makes it difficult to find many criminals within a short timeframe.
That being said, hitting the shift milestones does not provide extra XP. So, if you are solely aiming forleveling up fast, then a 24-hour custom shift is the way to go. With a longer shift, players can also escort all the criminals personally and book them in the precinct, without worrying about running out of time. So, it’s safe to say that an extended shift can net you twice or almost thrice the XP from a normal shift.
