Raiding inCrusader Kings 3is a form of warfare wheregaining lootanddamaging enemy buildingsis the aim, without being at war. While it isn’t available to everyone, raiding can be a key form of income, especially in the early game. Without war declared, there is less on the line, but players could still see their armies destroyed by anangry defensive force.
Who Can Raid & Raiding Requirements In Crusader Kings 3?

How To Raid In Crusader Kings 3
To raid inCrusader Kings 3, players need their soldiers to be set as a Raiding Army. This can be done when raising them;Raise Local Raiders, or players can click on their army and select theStart Raiding buttonin the menu in the bottom left.
Raiding Armies will be shown with burning torches above their banner.
With a Raiding Army selected and near an enemy border, players should seepotential loot on the map above enemy holdings. These are targets for raiding.
To raid, simplymove the Raiding Army into enemy territoryonto one of these holdings. Once a raid begins, players should see the circle begin to fill up. Importantly, once a raid has begun, itcannot be canceled. Therefore, it is best toavoid raiding strong opponents, who will send their troops to defend.
Bring The Loot Back
After a successful raid, players will not see any gold gains or other loot. Instead,by hovering over the army, they can see how muchloot is being carried.
Players will only receive this loot when thearmy returns to their lands. If the army isdefeatedin battle before returning, theloot will be lost.

How To Change Raid Intents In Crusader Kings 3
Introduced alongside theKhans of the SteppeDLC, players can nowset raid intentsfor their armies togain different benefitsfrom adventures.
To do so, click on the army andconvert it to a Raiding Army if they aren’t already in the bottom left. Next to the Always Raid checkbox, there is apop-up menu for choosing Raid Intent. Just make sure toclick Confirmupon making a change rather than exiting the menu.
Set Raid Intents before raiding, as it cannot be changed mid-siege.
Raid Intents can also be changed for all armies at the top of the Military tab on the right.

Some Raid Intents arelocked behind theKhans of the SteppeandNorthern AdventurersDLCs. Different loot is also possible for Tribals and Nomads. For example,Nomads gain Herdinstead of Prestige.
Loot a standard amount of Gold, plus Prestige or Herd.

Terrorize
Gain Prestige & Dread, while possibly destroying buildings at the cost of speed.
Have the Scorched Earth or No QuarterDynasty Legacies.
Less loot but increased chance to imprison characters.
More loot and a chance forInnovationsat the cost of speed.
Khans of the SteppeDLC & be a Nomadic Cultural Head.
Adventure
Nomads can last longer & store more loot, while Norse Adventurers can loot more overseas.
