Warhammer 40K: Boltgunheavily focuses on the player fighting aggressively and dominating their enemies like a true Space Marine. While all the tools given to you are offensive in nature, there are a few things to worry about that help keepyour Space Marine alive. Even with your superior weapons, the sheer number of heretics in the game can get to even the smartest players.

Armor of Contempt is much more than a Strategem that lowers the AP of an incoming attack, and it’s been translated to the game to do a slightly similar mechanic. Here’s exactly what Contempt is and how to restore it during missions.

What Is Contempt In Warhammer 40K: Boltgun

Contempt is this game’s version of armor, and getting a lot of it will help you not have to worry about your health first when taking damage. Your total number of Contempt will always need to be drained first before you start to lose health, with both values being found along the bottom right of the screen. The Invincibility cheatcan help keep your health from being reduced, but Contempt will always be lost. When you take damage that hits your Contempt, a blue outline will appear around your reticle letting you know you’re only losing Contempt, with that color turning to red once all your Contempt is gone.

The Contempt icon, both on the ground and your HUD, appears as ablue shield with a red seal and paper hanging from the seal. Larger shields indicate more Contempt.

How To Restore Contempt In Warhammer 40K: Boltgun

Your Contempt is restored whenever you walk over a small blue shield icon that is hovering over the ground. These willspawn periodically throughout each mission, along with all over the main room in Horde mode. While Contempt that spawns on the map is set, you’ll be able to get more by killing enemies. While not a guarantee, small enemies have a chance of dropping a low number of Contempt, while larger boss enemies may drop much more.

While playing on a harder difficulty may lead to you taking more damage and losing more Contempt, more enemies will also spawn, meaning more Contempt will drop. You can also findthepowerup Emperor’s Visage, which will give you a huge boost in Contempt for a limited amount of time, although Powerups can be few and far between sometimes, and unreliable for constantly restoring Contempt.
