Revenge of the Savage Planet’s Upgrade-O-Rama questline features four sets of challenges designed to increase your Clearance Level. A higher Clearance Level unlocks high-end blueprints and helps you max out your character’s abilities. In short, these challenges are essential if you’re aiming to become a top-tier deep-space explorer.
Fortunately forRevenge of the Savage Planetplayers, most Upgrade-O-Rama challenges are simple and easy to complete. But as your Clearance Level rises, some of the tasks become trickier and might catch you off guard. No need to worry, though—this guide breaks down every challenge in the questline and shares tips to complete them with minimal effort.
Upgrade-O-Rama #1: Casual Consultant Level
The first batch of challenges can all be done on the Stellaris Prime planet.
Aerial Disarray
Slitherflies are flying enemies you’ll first encounter on Stellaris Prime, especially around the lake near the base. Once you spot one, switch to the Water Gun and spray it with H2O to stagger it. Repeat this on three different Slitherflies to complete the Aerial Disarray challenge.
High Dive Hero
You can dive bomb byholding the CTRL key while airborne(Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox). To complete the High Dive Hero challenge, find a cliff near a body of water, jump, and hold the button to dive in. The best spot to do this isthe lake right behind your base on Stellaris Prime.
You can’t dive bomb into shallow water; you’ll need to find a lake deep enough to safely dive into.
Bait and Betray
Grab some bait and find a group of non-aggressive creatures, like Puffer Foxes.Toss the bait onto one of them so their body gets coated in food, then watch as nearby creatures swarm and devour the target. Repeat this three times to complete the challenge.
Frictionless Flow
Cover yourself in Green Goo and slide. On the PC, hold Shift and press C; on the PlayStation or Xbox, press the sprint button twice.
Green Goo is a slippery substance that extends your slides. To get some, simply kill an alien or follow a Mitoslime’s trail. Most creatures on Stellaris Prime explode upon death, leaving a slimy spot behind. Use the Green Goo they drop to slide and complete the Frictionless Flow challenge.
you’re able to also complete the sliding challenge using slopes. On the Xephyr planet, there are plenty of hills you can slide down to finish the task.
Upgrade-O-Rama #2: Part-Time Explorer
Most tasks in the second batch of Upgrade-O-Rama challenges can be completed on the Xephyr planet.
Shock and Awe
On Xephyr, head toCactus Valley, where you’ll find multiple groups of Scorpiopuffers alongside Puffer Foxes. To complete the challenge, lure five Puffer Foxes into an open area near a Scorpiopuffer, then quickly shoot down the Scorpiopuffer to shock the nearby Puffer Foxes.
Alternatively, you may throw bait near a Fungal Generator (the electricity-emitting plant) to shock approaching creatures. However, this method is trickier, as you need to ensure all five creatures are shocked at the same time.
Return to Sender
To complete the Return to Sender challenge, progress through the story until you unlock the Reflect-O-Matic Hand Gel. This item lets you deflect projectiles and use them against the attacking creatures.
Once you have the Reflect-O-Matic Hand Gel, kill three different creatures using their own projectiles. Some projectile-shooting creatures you can target include Slitherflies, Lavacons, Icicons, and Vaperons.
Don’t waste your resources unlocking every upgrade you come across. Instead, save them forthe best upgrades inRevenge of the SavagePlanet, which you’ll unlock after completing the Upgrade-O-Rama challenges.
Sinking Kick
On the Xephyr planet, look for a group of Furry Foxes near a quicksand area. Throw bait near the quicksand to lure them closer. Once they approach, get close and press the melee button (E on PC) to kick them into the quicksand. Repeat this five times to complete the challenge.
You can complete the Sinking Kick challenge by pushing enemies into the water if there’s no quicksand nearby.
Ninja Executor
Vaperons are mantis-like creatures found primarily in the Cactus Valley area on the Xephyr planet. To complete the Ninja Executor challenge, get within melee range of a Vaperon and kick it three times until it’s dead. Defeat three Vaperons using only your kick to finish the challenge.
Crack Some Eggs
Some Fecal Beetles have a hard shell on their backs that regular bullets can’t break. To crack these shells, use your Proton Whip (E on PC). If you’ve crafted the Charged Shot upgrade for your pistol, you can also use that to break the shells.
Upgrade-O-Rama #3: Vice President of Exploration
The best planet for completing the third batch of tasks is Zenithian Rift.
Elemental Reverse
Head to the Zenithian Rift, the cold, snowy planet, where you’ll find plenty of Lavacons and Icicons. Wait for one of them to shoot a projectile at you, then press the Q button just before it hits. The catch is that you need to use each creature’s projectiles to kill the other—deflect the Lavacon’s missile to hit the Icicon and vice versa.
You cannot complete this challenge without the Reflect-O-Matic Hand Gel.
Ice Ricochet
On the Zenithian Rift planet, climb until you reach the Peaks and head toBilodeau’s Floating Isles. Here, you’ll find many Simian Puffers near an Ice Detonator, a planet that freezes nearby creatures when triggered. Use bait to lure three creatures together, then shoot the Ice Detonator to freeze them. Finally, use your Bounce Shot to kill all three at once.
The Bounce Shot unlocks in the Weapon Upgrades section of the 3D Printer. To activate it, charge your bullets until the crosshair turns purple instead of white or blue.
Glide Mastery
Advance the story until you unlockthe Drone Glider blueprint. Crafting this upgrade lets you hold the jump button midair to float. Once you have it, find a high cliff, jump, and open your glider to float for 100 meters (~330 feet) to complete the Glide Master challenge.
Blueprints are unlocked by completing challenges and researchingRevenge of the Savage Planet’s captured animals.
Gravity’s Wrath
Unlockthe Stomp Booster upgradefor the Jump Pack. Then, jump from a high cliff and hold the CTRL button midair to stomp enemies beneath you (Triangle on PlayStation and Y on Xbox).
Upgrade-O-Rama #4: Senior Corporate Raider
The best planet for completing the fourth batch of challenges is Quasadron IX.
Jelly Burst Bonanza
Mitoslimes are the green slimes. Find one and shoot it with the blaster to force it to reproduce ten times; this is the fastest way to gather ten Mitoslimes in one spot. Once there are enough slimes, spray them with water, ensuring they all fill up equally. The goal is tofill them all with water and make them burst simultaneously.
Up, Up, and Boom
Go to Quasadron IX and enter theBabutts' Kingdom, where you’ll find groups of Babutts wandering around. Fill up your Goo Ingestor with slime (the green substance) and spray three Babutts with it simultaneously. Since Babutts are allergic to this material, they will float and explode—hence the challenge’s name: Up, Up, Boom.
The Loud and Slowed
On the Quasadron IX planet, head to theSouthern Rocksarea. Fill your Goo Ingestor with nearby Fero Goo (the purple material) and spray it onto the Tatushkeys, the screaming green chickens. This will slow them down, allowing you to lasso and capture them.
You need to be quick, as Tatushkeys will shake off the Fero Goo after a few seconds.
Rapid Fire Execution
Before attempting the Rapid Fire Execution, unlock the following upgrades: the Blight Bomb, Bombegranate Stabilizer, and Supernova Charged Shot.
Once you have all three upgrades, find a group of low-HP enemies, like Puffer Foxes. Use each upgrade to kill one creature in under 20 seconds: kill one with an acid bomb, blast another with a Bombegranate, and defeat the last with a Charged Shot.
Skeet Shot
The Skeet Shot challenge requires you to throw a Gelationous Blob under an enemy and shoot it down midair. (Look for hive-like structures on trees and shoot them to get a Gelationous Blob.)
For those unfamiliar, the Gelationous Blob is one ofRevenge of the Savage Planet’s quirky gameplay elements. It’s a slime-like jump pad that launches creatures into the air as soon as they step on it.
