There are several different ways to playBlue Prince. If you are just looking to dive deeper into the story and the lore, you will probably just want to keep playing normal mode, but if you want the game to get a bit harder, there are two other modes you can try out.
Dare Mode and Curse Mode can be used to change up how you playBlue Prince. In order to play either of these, you will need to complete the game on normal mode first. Then, there are a couple of things you need to do to unlock Curse Mode for yourself.
What’s the Difference Between Being Cursed and Curse Mode in Blue Prince?
Curse Mode is a mode that you start a new save file with. It makes the game a lot harder by making sure you burn extra steps, extra keys, extra gems, and evenextraBlue Princecoins. This lasts for as long as you play the save file. Being cursed, however, is temporary. If you give money to the Shrine’s statue, then take the money back, it will curse you for several days.
While being cursed and Curse Mode do the same thing to you, being Cursed doesn’t count fortheBlue Princeachievementabout winning in Cursed Mode. If you are trophy hunting, you’ll need to unlock Curse Mode instead.
How to Unlock Curse Mode in Blue Prince
In order to get Curse Mode for your next save file, you will first need to get into the Bookshop. The Bookshop is an extremely rare floorplan that canonly be drafted from the Library. It sells a variety of books; when you buy one of these books, you’re able to thenrent it from the library. You need to purchaseThe Curse of the Black Bridgefrom the Library for40 coins.
After purchasing the book, go back into the library and pick up the paper on the table in the center of the room. Then, check that you want to readThe Curse of the Black Bridge. Thenext time you draft the Library, that book will appear on the table for you to read.
Flip through the whole book. Next, you will need todraft the Gift Shop. As long as you have already flipped throughThe Curse of the Black Bridge, you will get a new item for 15 gold coins.
Purchase theCURSED COFFERS. Then, you need todraft theBlue PrinceShrinein the outdoor location behind the west gate. There will now be a little chest on the left side of the Shrine.
This chest can’t be opened with a key;you will instead need the Sledgehammer item. Hit the chest, and it will open, revealing the Curse Effigy. This item will immediately curse you, and it will unlock Curse Mode.
