Pokemon Gen 10 Has The Perfect Myths to Make Amazing Regional Forms or Fakes for Hydreigon
Today, Centro Leaks shared a tweet stating that they can confirm Gen 10, which is rumored to be codenamed as “Gaia,” will take place in Greece - specifically, the Cyclades Archipelago. The reason this is good news for Hydreigon fans is that, even if the Gen 5Pokemon doesn’t get a Mega Evolution inPokemon Legends: Z-A, at least it would be perfect for a regional form or regional fake in Gen 10 inspired by Greek mythology.
There are many creatures and monsters in Greek mythology that could prove to be cool inspirations for new Pokemon evolutions or forms. For example,PokemonGen 10 could add a Cerberus evolution for Houndoom, which would be perfect in terms of both themes and aesthetic. Likewise, Hydreigon would have plenty of hydras to draw inspiration from for a regional form or regional fake line, and that could be the perfect occasion for Gen 10 to do something unique for one of the series' most beloved critters.
Hydreigon, as its name implies, is already inspired by the concept of hydras, but these creatures typically have many more heads than three. With so many myths and legends about hydras tied to Greek culture, Hydreigon could feel right at home. For example, a regional form may have its design modified to fit seven or nine heads instead of three, and possibly change thePokemon’s type combinationin the process. Likewise, a regional fake line could be very interesting to see if Hydreigon is turned into a plant, instead, with multiple flowers as its heads.
The possibilities are endless, but there is one factor in the equation that may throw a monkey wrench in this concept - Hydreigon recently got a Paradox version in the form of Iron Jugulis. If that is any indication, then there is also the chance that Hydreigon doesn’t get some new tools in Gen 10 despite the obvious connection between thisDark/Dragon Pokemonand its source inspiration. However, if Game Freak does add something for it, a regional form or regional fake could even be more interesting to see than a Mega Evolution inPokemon Legends: Z-A. This remains speculation for the time being, but it does seem like all the stars have aligned for Hydreigon to shine brighter than ever in Gen 10.
