Rockstar addressed the unfortunate leak soon after, but refused to divulge any further information on the title until December 2023, when it finally revealedGrand Theft Auto 6to the world with an internet-breaking trailer. Fans were then left in the dark for well over 500 days, with no word on the game from Rockstar Games. Then, less than two weeks ago, the studio shocked the world with abrand-newGTA 6trailer, tons of details, and over 70 new screenshots.
GTA 6 Fans Blown Away by Trailer 2 Details
Therecord-breaking second trailer forGrand Theft Auto 6has already racked up more than 475 million views across all social media platforms, so it’s no surprise that fans are still picking out some of its most impressive details. In a new post on Reddit, user BoogaSnu pointed out that the power lines featured in Trailer 2 are incredibly detailed, with every cable and transformer rendered to the highest detail. The original poster called it “incredible,” while others called it “impressive” and an “awesome detail.” Some are even speculating that crashing into the poles in-game may cause power outages around Vice City.
The last Rockstar Games title to release was 2018’sRed Dead Redemption 2, which fans have already beencomparing toGrand Theft Auto 6. While 2013’sGrand Theft Auto 5was already massively impressive, especially for the PS3 and Xbox 360 era,Red Dead Redemption 2blew many other games out of the water when it came to graphic fidelity. Many questioned whether or not Rockstar could top the visuals ofRed Dead Redemption 2, but with Trailer 2 showcasing in-engine footage and gameplay, there’s no denying thatGrand Theft Auto 6is likely going to become the pinnacle of graphic fidelity.
While Rockstar revealed a ton of new information surrounding the title with the release of Trailer 2, the studio’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently touched upon the title during a new quarterly earnings call. According to the company’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick,Grand Theft Auto 6began development “in earnest” in 2020. Given the CEO’s phrasing, it’s speculated that pre-production on the title likely began shortly after the launch ofRed Dead Redemption 2in 2018. If the theory is correct,Grand Theft Auto 6will have been in development for seven or eight yearsby the time 2026 rolls around.
