Summary
Infinity Nikkiis catching some fire from its community after deciding to deduct Ethereal Stars and Starlit Crystals from its players. WhileInfinity Nikkihad a successful launch in December 2024, and Infold had gathered a lot of goodwill, the game’s reputation plummeted in the wake of Version 1.5. Countless game-breaking bugs, an empty co-op zone, a comprehensive retcon of its story, and a deceptive dye system were among the chief complaints from players.
While Infold rushed to compensate fans after the initial reception to Version 1.5, the emergence of new issues, the censorship of criticism on official channels, and the lack of a proper responsecausedInfinity Nikkiplayers to boycott the game. The aptly-named “girlcott” has since been a concerted effort by the Chinese and global community to force Infold to change course, but recent decisions made by the developers may have only stoked the fires further.
On top of nerfing the Floating ability of the new Crimson Feather outfit, Infold has also gone ahead with its plan to deduct currency from players who benefited from a bug that allowed them to collect extra Ethereal Stars and Starlit Crystals in the new zone. For players who have already spent their Ethereal Stars to obtain theSea of Stars inInfinity Nikki, this deduction has made their currency drop to a negative value, effectively locking them out of the system. This can be observed in NuuclearPasta’s post on theInfinity Nikkisubreddit.
Infinity Nikki Players Are Unhappy With Infold’s Response to Version 1.5
It should be noted that Infold compensated players with Starlit Crystals andEthereal Stars inInfinity Nikkivia mail in an effort to redistribute the currency fairly, but this has still left many accounts in the negative. Due to other circumstances, theInfinity Nikkicommunity feels that the deduction is in poor taste, as many PlayStation players continue to struggle to even login to the game.
That being said, it hasn’t been all doom and gloom in Version 1.5. A majority of fans have praisedSerenity Island inInfinity Nikki, and believe that the update should have just focused on the Pieceys and their story. Ultimately, the boycott wants a return to the cozy experience offered byInfinity Nikkiprior to Version 1.5, and Serenity Island proves that the game can still provide. While it remains to be seen if Infold will bring back the old storyline, or if it will back down from some of its choices regarding the dye system, its current approach appears to do more harm than good.
