Motion Picture Group, let slip that James Gunn and Peter Safran are working on a live-actionTeen Titansand an animatedTeen Titans Go!project.Speaking with the hosts, Abdy and De Luca stated, “I think James and Peter are working on a live-actionTeen Titans, and a newTeen Titans Go!I think, actually, too.” Word of a potential live-actionTeen Titansfilm has been around since last year, when THR reported on theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowscreenwriter penning a script for the team film. However, a newTeen Titans Go!animated film seems to also be in development.

Teen TitansandTeen Titans Go!Are Perfect For The DC Universe

Titanswas a live-action adaptation of the comic characters that debuted in 2018 and ran for four seasons. It featured Robin, Beast, Starfire, and Raven, and the tone was more mature for adult audiences. While little is known about the live-actionTeen Titansfilm in the DCU, it will likely avoid this direction, playing for teen audiences, much like the characters at its core. However, the eclectic team could be perfect for the DCU, as they have continued to prove popular over the years.

Teen Titans Go!is an animated series geared toward younger audiences. It features many of the same characters, including Cyborg. The show has seen great success, running for nine seasons. They even had a theatrically released film in 2018’sTeen Titans Go! To The Movies. There was also the straight-to-video releaseTeen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans, which saw their universe clash with that ofthe 2003Teen Titansseries.Teen Titans Go!also had one of the strangest TV movies, withTeen Titans Go! See Space Jam, which is just the characters watchingSpace Jamand making comments à laMystery Science Theater.

The characters and style ofTeen Titans Go!still endure with young audiences, making it a great fit to expand the DC Universe to younger superhero fans.
