Hawkeyeended in a waythat left the door open for the show to return in the future, and most people presumed that would be the case. Fans wanted to see how the beloved hero would continue his journey, with his character being one that Marvel has put much effort into over the years. However, when speaking to theHigh Performancepodcast, Renner lifted the lid on why the show hasn’t returned.

He said, “They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money. I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.’ I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.'”

Renner is obviously referencing his serious snowmobile accident in 2023 when he was run over and ended up being hospitalized with blunt chest trauma that almost cost him his life.Renner broke eight ribs in 14 places, as well as his right knee and ankle, left leg tibia, left ankle, right clavicle, and right shoulder, showcasing how serious the situation ended up being for his life. Since then, he has had a long journey returning to full fitness so that he could work again, and that’s exactly what he’s been able to do.

However, Renner has yet to make a comeback with the MCU, despite how many years he’s been involved in the franchise and the fact that he’s healthy enough to do so. While he’s never had a solo movie,Renner has appeared in five Marvel movies, including some of the biggest ever, such asAvengers: EndgameandThe Avengers. He was also the lead actor in the Disney Plus seriesHawkeye, with his character having proven to be popular among fans due to the work Renner has put in over time. Hawkeye has been well written to add plenty of emotional layers to his character, rather than just relying on the brilliant action that he provides.

There is no need to panic for thoseHawkeyefans who will be hearing his latest comments and worrying that his future in the franchise is over. Renner has made it clear he’s still open to returning for the right offer, and after so many years, that’s something he’s certainly earned. As an original Avenger, audiences are keen to see the storyline of Hawkeye be concluded in a satisfying manner as people want to see his story concluded rather than just be left open. However, Renner’s return to work with Marvel Studios in the future for another season ofHawkeyeis going to depend on the contractual offer that is put on the table, which is what he deserves.
