JoJo’s Bizarre Adventurehas just retconned the lore of a major character in the franchise.JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9,titledJOJOLands, has been in serialization for a few years now, and fans are eagerly awaiting the story to head to its climax — there are reasons to believe thatPart 9will be the last.
However, the announcement of the upcomingJoJomagazine brought a different surprise — a major change in how a specific character has been perceived up to this point, which could also mean a change to how theJoJomultiverse works.
What Has Been Revealed About JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure?
One of the latest posts on the officialJoJo Magazine’s account on X makes an interesting remark about Rohan Kishibe. According to the post,Rohan Kishibe fromJoJo’s Bizarre Adventureis a counterpart of the one who appears inThus Spoke Kishibe Rohan’s series.
The upcoming issue of the magazine, whichwill be released on July 03, 2025, will feature 90 pages on Rohan as part of aspecial project focusing on Kishibe, who in part represents Araki himself.
What Does That Really Mean?
Rohan Kishibewas believed to be the same character in every media in which he appeared in the franchise. Beginning with Part 7,JoJo’s Bizarre Adventureopens up an entirely new timeline, but with clear references to the story told from Part 1 to 6.
For example, it is clear that Johnny Joestar and Diego Brando, the main characters inSteel Ball Run(Part 7) are the counterparts of Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando from Part 1. However, the characters in the “Second Saga” of the story are very different from their counterparts in the previous saga.
However, that is not the case with Rohan:he is the same both in design and in personality, so there was no reason to believe that Rohan was a different character across multiple timelines— many fans even theorized how he could be in different timelines at the same time, since the story led readers to believe that Rohan was the same in all the stories.JoJo’s Bizarre Adventurehas not only confirmed the multiverse, but clearly established Rohan as another character with multiple counterparts.
