Summary

Jujutsu Kaisenfans haven’t had much to be excited about over the course of the last few months since the manager concluded last year, but the end of April was certainly big for the fans. AJujutsu Kaisenexhibition was held towards the end of the month in Osaka, and it revealed a ton of information about the final arc of the story, all the way up to Volume 27.

Naturally, the battle between Gojo and Sukuna was a big talking point and the author addressed several aspects of the battle here. At the same time,Gege Akutami also gave fans an idea of why Gojo lost, and in doing so, he painted quite a clear picture of Gojo Satoru’s biggest weakness in battle.

Gojo Satoru As His Portrayal As The Strongest

Fans know for a fact that Gojo is one of the strongest to ever live in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Known to be the Strongest Sorcerer in the Modern Era, Gojo can’t be rivaled by anyone but the King of Curses, Sukuna. These two going head-to-head against each other in the final saga of Jujutsu Kaisen was always a given and Gege truly delivered upon those expectations in an incredible fashion. In the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, fans finally got to see the two clash.

Farewell, Gojo Satoru. I shall never forget you for as long as I live. — Sukuna

Gege was very careful with Gojo’s portrayalthroughout the series. Gojo was shown to be incredibly powerful, strong enough to beta just about anyone. In Shinjuku, Gege showed that Gojo was strong enough to rival and even overwhelm Sukuna in various instances throughout the battle. In every way of the word, Gojo and Sukuna were equals throughout Jujutsu Kaisen.

That said, the battle between Gojo and Sukuna could’ve only had one winner, and this turned out to be Sukuna, largely due to his being the main villain of the story as Yuji being the one to take him down. Gojo lost the battle against Sukuna, and at the same time, he also lost his life in the process.

Gojo’s Biggest Weakness Has Been Highlighted By Gege

Gojo Lowers His Guard Too Often

According to Gege Akutami, Gojo Satoru is invincible, but from his words, it can be inferred that he does have one weakness, or rather, a bad habit. Gojo lets his guard down too often. Here’s what Gege had to say about Gojo losing to Sukuna in Shinjuku.

Q: “When did Sukuna make the Binding Vow to cut down Gojo?”

A: “Sometime after Kusakabe said he won. The reason he was cut down was also because he had let his guard down after destroying Mahoraga. By this point, Gojo thought Sukuna no longer had a way to bypass Limitless. Perhaps Gojo under normal circumstances would’ve been able to sense it and narrowly avoid fatality.”

Clearly, Gojo could’ve survived here and even won the battle had he not lowered his concentration and allowed himself to be hit. He was fully capable of dodging the attack but couldn’t. Similarly, when Gojo fought Toji Fushiguro, he made the same mistakes and let his guard down, leading to his demise.

Even in Shibuya, when Gojo was sealed, it was simply because of a lapse in concentration for a split seconddue to the shock being caused by Kenjakuusing Geto’s body. Without a loss of concentration, Gojo would be invincible. But at the end of the day, the plot requires the author to remove Gojo from various instances in different ways. Otherwise, he would be truly unbeatable.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on June 02, 2025. Fans can read the series on theManga Plusand the Shonen Jump apps.
