Jujutsu Kaisenhas only recently ended, and it is no surprise to know that fans are talking about its conclusion, which was controversial to many. At times like these, fans often wonder how the story could’ve ended if the aitor took a different approach.
Interestingly enough, when it comes toJJK, the author actually did have a different approach panned out.Gege Akutami went with a rather good endingcompared to what he had planned for some of his main characters at the end of the story, and that is certainly frightening.
The Fallen And The Survivors Of JJK’s Final Arc
When it comes to the main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen, not all of them were equally lucky. Fans know that the last arc was always going to put the lives of the main characters in harm’s way, and that is exactly what happened. This is especially true for the four main characters, Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, and of course, Satoru Gojo. To be clear, Nobara was already presumed dead at this point in the story, so fans were always unsure of her fate.
Cheer up boys, let’s see some smiles! — Nobara after she returned
But, at the end ofJJK, she did indeed make a return and even helped to deal with Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. Similarly,Megumi Fushiguro was taken over by Sukunaand fans knew that Yuji had to rescue him. Yuji used his powers as well as he could and eventually, beat Sukuna, saving Megumi along the way. Just like Nobara, Megumi also survived the final arc ofJujutsu Kaisen.
Many fans considered the possibility ofthe protagonist, Yuji Itadori, dying in the final arc of the story. While the possibility was real, in the end, Yuji Itadori surpassed all his limits and beat Sukuna. Without the aid of his friends, he most certainly would’ve died, but eventually, he survived.
The only casualty out of the main four characters was Gojo. Fans know that Gojo fought Sukuna first and even though he could’ve won the battle, in the end, he let his guard down and paid a heavy price, which haunts many readers to this day.
How Gege Could’ve Killed Off More Main Characters In His Alternate Ending
Gege’s Other Plans Were To Kill Off 3 Main Characters
Although Gojo was the only main character who fell in the Shinjuku Showdown, fans know that there was a real possibility for two more to fall. Previously,Gege had made it clear that in his ending, either 1 of the 4 would survive, or 3 of the 4 would survive. Clearly, Gege went with the second scenario, but the first one would’ve been shocking to witness. This most certainly meant that Gege wouldn’t have brought back Nobara at all.
Haven’t we had enough of Gojo Satoru already? — Gojo to Yuji
Most likely, only one of Yuji and Megumi would’ve survived, and since the final battle was to save Megumi, it is likely thatYuji would’ve died taking down Sukunaand saving Megumi. This ending would’ve been too painful for the fans, and in a way, many readers are glad that it didn’t come to pass. Still, the idea itself was interesting.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on June 03, 2025. Fans can read the series on theManga Plusand the Shonen Jump apps.
