One of the questions he responded to during this Q&A was concerning his inspiration for one of the biggest characters of the JJK series, Megumi Fushiguro.

Megumi has always been a pretty popular character in the series, even though he was severely underutilized in the final arc as he was stuck with Sukuna. Nevertheless, fans still like him a lot, and in this event, Gege reveals he’s inspired by not one, but two characters, but in different ways

Many fans expected Gege to have taken some inspiration for Megumi from the Naruto character Sasuke. After all, the main three and Gojo are very reminiscent of Team 7. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Gege’s first inspiration for this character is someone known as Megumi Wanibuchi. Gege took Megumi’s first name from this character, who is also known as Megumi.

In the prototype for Jujutsu Kaisen, where Megumi was the main character, his full name was actually also Megumi Wanibuchi. So, fans can definitely see the ties between Megumi and this character. Additionally, as many fans know, Megumi is a girl’s name, a name his father gave him because he wasn’t sure if Megumi would be a girl or a boy.

“You’ve Done Enough. I Wanted To Create A World That Wouldn’t Expose Tsumiki To Injustice And Unhappiness. And If I Couldn’t Do That, Then At Least I Wanted To Preserve Our Fragile Lifestyle As Much As I Could While I Was Still Alive. I Wanted To Eat Food That I’m Used To Making And Gaze At The Laundry Hanging In The Sun And See Tsumiki Off As She Walked Side By Side With Someone Like You In The After-Noon Light. Then I’d Think About How Happy I Was” — Megumi Fushiguro

The second inspiration for Megumi is definitely more interesting. A part of Megumi’s personality, from what Gege says,is also based on Rukia, a major Bleach character. The connection between Rukia and Megumi comes mostly from their relationship with their siblings. Rukia’s relationship with her brother inspired Megumi and her sister. That aside, it’s no secret that Jujutsu Kaisen is heavily inspired by Bleach.

What Else Was Revealed By Gege During The JJK Q&A?

Gege Akutami answered many interesting questions in the Q&A, not just Megumi’s inspirations. For example, Gege also revealed how Gojo lost against Sukuna in their battle, and the answer might shock fans. He also revealed more information about Sukuna’s corpse, and also his original plans for Gojo.
