Jujutsu Kaisenfans finally have some things to look forwardto as Gege Akutamifinally tackles the Q&A Session about Gojo Satoru and Sukuna’s incredible battle. Fans knew this massive event was coming in April, and slowly, all the answers to exciting questions are being revealed in the story one by one.
Gege gave a ton of exciting information to the fans, such as the reason why Gojo lost to Sukuna, and of course, some other exciting bits about the main cast as well. Based on everything thaty fans got to witness in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, fans know that there are only a few characters that could’ve beaten Sukuna in Shinjuku Showdown.
Gege Confirms Only Characters Could’ve Beaten Sukuna
As was shown by Gege himself, a few characters in the Shinjuku Showdown could’ve defeated the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. This might come as a shock to some fans, but it makes sense. For one, fans already know that Gojo Satoru was on the same level as him. Gojo was extremely powerful and could’ve beaten Sukuna without much trouble.
In fact, Gojo had the upper hand towards the end of the battle and only lost because it would’ve been too early for Sukuna to be removed from the plot, and at the same time, it was always going to be Yuji. At the same time, Gojo was too strong so he had to be removed from the plot. As such, Gege had Gojo drop his guard and Sukuna seized the moment to kill him. This was confirmed by Gege himself. At the same time, Gege himself says that normally, Gojo could’ve dealt with it. Along with Gojo, others could’ve also beaten him.
Could Anyone Else Have Taken Down Sukuna?
WhileGojo could’ve beaten Sukuna, there were others who had opportunities as well. For instance, Yuta could’ve beaten Sukuna on multiple occasions. Had Megumi taken Yuji’s hand in Yuta’s domain, Yuta would’ve won. Similarly, had Yuta fired his Hollow Purple properly in Gojo’s body and not lost control, he could’ve won. Higuruma could’ve hit Sukuna with Executioner’s sword and won, and had someone helped him land the clean hit, he could’ve won as well. And, of course, at the end of the day, the only one who did beat Sukuna was none other than Yuji Itadori.
Sukuna I can kill you. — Yuji Itadori
That’s not to say these characters were stronger. To be clear,Gojo was Sukuna’s only matchand the only one who could’ve beaten him fair and square. Kashimo came close after Gojo, especially against a weakened Sukuna. Yuji and Yuta came the closest and were likely the strongest after Goj and although they were weaket than Sukuna, they could’ve won through teamwork.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on Jul 29, 2025. Fans can read the series on theManga Plusand the Shonen Jump apps.
