Summary

Jujutsu Kaisen’sFinal Arc still haunts some fans to this day. While the vast majority of what fans witnessed in the Final arc of the story was absolutely stunning, there were moments when it almost felt as if actions were too forced to make the plot move in a certain direction. This is one of the biggest reasons why the amazing battle betweenGojo Satoru and Sukuna caused so much controversy.

Gojo and Sukuna finally fought inJJK’sShinjuku, and it was here that the battle of the strongest was finally going to be settled. Of course, it ended with the victory of Ryomen Sukuna, which was to be expected, given that he had yet to fight Yuji at that point. Regardless, fans were upset about the manner of Gojo’s defeat, and Gege’s latest comments only make things worse as it has finally been confirmed that Gojo was truly nerfed in the battle.

How Gojo Lost To Sukuna In Shinjuku

Gojo vs Sukuna started just as fans expected it to. It was a phenomenal battle that was largely even right from the get-go. While there were some moments where Sukuna was on top, there were also many moments where Gojo was the superior one in battle. This fight kept going back and forth and fans were always on the edge of their seats. This battle was iconic and it went on to redefine what fights are supposed to be. To this day, the impact of this stunning fight can be felt, and that just goes to show how amazing it truly was. At the end of it, however, fans saw Sukuna take the victory as he used Mahoraga to expand the range of his technique and cut through Gojo’s Limitless and kill him. That’s how the battle ended and Sukuna was declared as the winner.

Farewell, Gojo Satoru! I shall never forget you for as long as I live! — Ryomen Sukuna

However, it is this very moment that fans take issue with. Gojo, as he was, should never have been taken by surprise at that time. Based on the very same logic that Gege established in his story, Gojo should’ve been at the top of his game and won the battle. But, that didn’t happen. Gege’s recent words only throw more fuel on the fire.

Gege Confirmed to Nerf Gojo During The Sukuna Battle

Gojo Lost Only Because He Let His Guard Down

Gege Akutami has now confirmed to the fans that the biggest reason why Gojo lost was his own fault. In his recent Q&A event, Gege confirmed that the biggest reason why Gojo lost was because he lowered his guard against the King of Curses. This is what Gege had to say:

After defeating Mahoraga, Gojo thought that Sukuna had no way to bypass his infinity anymore. I think that the usual Gojo would’ve sensed that something was amiss & could’ve avoided a fatal wound. — Gege Akutami

This has rightly upset many fans, especially because this basically confirms Gojo could have and should’ve won the battle. But, some fans are quick to assume that it was only natural for Gojo to be taken by surprise, when that isn’t the case. Gege purposely held Gojo back and normally, he should’ve seen the attack coming.

For one, right before Gojo died, he saw Mahoraga pierce through his Infinity with Dismantle by increasing the range of his slash. This is what Sukuna was waiting for. Gojo was already hit by this technique at that point, so falling to it twice was rather bizarre. But even more importantly, Gojo should easily have been able to sense the World Splitting Dismantle coming. For one,Gojo is a superhuman, and just like Maki could dodge Sukuna’s slashes, he should’ve been able to sense them as well, although not on the same level as Maki. Secondly, Gojo should also easily be able to see it.

Gojo has the Six Eyes. He can see cursed technique activation, release, and practically everything at the smallest level. For him to not see Sukuna activate a technique and launch it, even with a Binding Vow, is impossible. To make things even crazier, Gojo had hit 4 black flashes at this point. As stated by Gege himself, this should’ve increased his concentration even more, not decreased it.Gojo was in the zone, moments away from victory, and above all, could easily have seen the attack. The only reason he lost was because Gege had to kill him off and so he nerfed Gojo. In a fair battle, Gojo should’ve won.
