Summary
It’s great to see Disney still experimenting with how it delivers shows. ReleasingAndorin four separate chapters is almost like getting a movie every week. Each batch of episodes had a core theme that worked and felt complete. Did that hold true for the season finale and the last batch of three episodes?
Fans of the series know that this wasn’t the end for Cassian Andor, becausehe was originally fromRogue One: A Star Wars Story, technically a sequel toAndoreven though it was released first. That’s the ultimate conclusion ofAndor,and it does answer some of the show’s lingering questions. Not all of them, though, so let’s see all theunanswered questions that season 2 ofAndorleft with its viewers.
6The Time Gaps Are Troubling
What Happened To Kill Me?
The first season ofAndorcame out in 2022, so some time has passed, and not everyone is going to remember how that season ended.Episode twelve was all about celebrating the life of Maarva, Cassian’s adopted mother, and Bix and the rest of Cassian’s allies going into hiding. When they leave, Cassian tells Luthen to kill him, and that’s how the season ends.
In season two, things skip ahead a yearand kick off with Cassian stealing aprototype ship from the Empire. What happened during that year to help Cassian get over his dark thoughts? There are other big time gaps, too,like between episode nine and episode ten. There is room for Disney to fill in these gaps if they want.
5What Happened To Mon Mothma’s Contacts And Family?
Is It So Easy To Give Up Family?
Mon Mothma was the ideal leader in the originalStar Warstrilogy without much attention given to her backstory. WhatAndordid best was highlight that she had a life before the Rebellion, which she tragically lost. Her biggest moment came in episode nine when shecondemned Emperor Palpatinein front of the Senate, and then escaped thanks to Cassian.
She did not have time to say goodbye to her husband, Perrin Fertha, or her daughter, Leida. Presumably, they never spoke again, but that may not be true. Either way, it is odd that her family wasn’t given any closure beyond Perrin driving away in a car with (perhaps) a new lover.
4What Happened To Kleya And Vel
Did Their Adventures Continue?
Most of the major characters either die in season two ofAndor, die in the sequel movieRogue One: A Star Wars Story, or will go on to live fulfilling lives in theStar Warsfranchise. There are two major characters left unaccounted for in the rest of the franchise: Vel Sartha and Kleya Marki. Both characters did not die and seemingly had good endings as they now had a home on Yavin 4.
It’s not all peaches and cream, though, because they both suffered losses. Vel lost the love of her life, Cinta, in season two, and Kleya lost Luthen. There is hope for these two to return and continue their stories in either a movie or another Disney+ show.
3Did Cassian Ever Try Looking For Bix?
There Is Another Andor
Dialing things back a bit, episode nine had a major cliffhanger as Bix left Cassian a note saying she had taken off. Viewers assumed she would return in the next episode, or at least, that Cassian would mention trying to look for her. That didn’t happen, though, and instead, there was another time jump forward by a year.
Did Cassian ever look for Bix during this time? In the final moments of episode twelve, she is shown on Mina-Rau holding a baby. Cassian must have thought to search for her there at some point. So, did he, and is that child his? The baby alone has fans perplexed, but it’s just another little nugget fromDisney telling viewersthat there is more to come afterAndor.
2What Happened To The Maya Pei Rebels?
Did They Find The Actual Base?
This is a minor mystery, but it was set up to be a big reveal. As previously mentioned, Cassian was hired to steal a prototype ship and deliver it to Yavin 4 in episode one. Instead, he doesn’t find his contact there, and is ambushed by a group of Rebels known as the Maya Pei.
They hold him captive until he is able to escape, leaving them stranded once again. Since Yavin 4 is the location of theRebellion’s main basein the future, does that mean this particular Rebel faction will eventually join the others? Perhaps the Maya Pei all killed each other instead, but either way,it remains a mystery.
1Was Luthen A Jedi?
The Force Evaded This One
If there was one mystery fans wanted to have answered in season two, it was regarding Luthen. In the early half of season one, Luthen temporarily gives Cassian his necklace, which is made out ofa Kyber Crystal. For those who don’t remember, Kyber Crystals give Lightsabers their source of power.
Luthen does get it back, but it’s never seen again. Why did he have it if he wasn’t a Jedi? In episode ten, there is a flashback to how Luthen met Kleya during some sort of incursion. Luthen could have been a soldier instead and merely found the Kyber Crystal, or perhaps he was married to a Jedi. Now that Luthen is dead, these answers may well be buried with him, but there is an opportunity to expand on this character further if Disney wants to.
