Summary
Marvel Studios is always looking to do something fresh that will get people talking, especially regarding major characters such asSpider-Man. The popular webslinger has an iconic role, and Tom Holland is someone audiences are always keen to see more of, where possible.
While people are eagerly awaitingSpider-Man: Brand New Dayand the arrival of Sadie Sink in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have been different teases for Spider-Man moving forward. Still, there’s no guarantee that they will actually be able to pull it off.
Marvel Has People Talking About Daredevil & Spider-Man
There Were Multiple Teases In Daredevil: Born Again
Spider-Man isn’t expected to be seen in the MCUuntilSpider-Man: Brand New Day, as he has not been confirmed as a part of theAvengers: Doomsdaycast. However, Marvel certainly hasn’t forgotten about the character because he was teased heavily throughoutDaredevil: Born Again, to the point where the audience thought there was a chance he would end up making a cameo appearance. Ultimately, that didn’t happen, but fans have constantly been talking about it as a possibility forDaredevil: Born Againseason two or for people from the Disney Plus series to be part of the upcomingSpider-Manmovie in a bid to tie these worlds together.
Kingpin referenced Spider-Manduring the series as a vigilante that he wants to control and eliminate, and that sets up an obvious storyline at some stage. On top of that, the Spider-Man music was featured during the season one finale as another wink to fans, with Marvel making it very clear that they want people to be thinking about Peter Parker. Given how rare it is that Marvel does things like this without a long-term plan, people are now confident that these worlds will cross paths, but it might not be that simple.
Marvel’s Deal With Sony Might Prohibit Their Spider-Man Plans
It Is Going To Stop All Of The Teases
Marvel teasing the possibility of Spider-Man appearing inDaredevil: Born Againwas exciting, and having those moments made fans believe there was a wider plan for the street-level storylines within the MCU. This is a world that fans have wanted to see expand for some time, and there is a belief among some people thatSpider-Man: Brand New Daywill be a street-level movie that takes the web-slinger back to the basics. Marvel did agreat job with Daredevil’s complete introduction; having a gritty underbelly below the flashy Marvel movies is a smart idea, as it provides something totally different and unique. However, the deal that Marvel has in place with Sony is likely going to prohibit them from fully exploring this as a possibility.
Spider-Man isn’t able to appear on any of the Disney Plus shows at the moment, and unless anything changes with that, thenHolland won’t be part ofDaredevil: Born Againanytime soon. It’s a frustrating situation for Marvel because they want to explore the idea of Spider-Man being in the television show, and there’s no denying that it would add a lot of star power to the series.Daredevil: Born Againis teasing the idea of the titular character bringing a team together, and having Spider-Man play some sort of role in that would be brilliant. However, unless Marvel and Sony are able to work something out, then it’s not going to happen at any point, which is a missed opportunity and is why Marvel must be careful with its teases.
Marvel Might Be Able To Add Pull This Off In Spider-Man: Brand New Day
They Wouldn’t Be Able To Include Kingpin
If Marvel really wants Daredevil and Spider-Man to be seen together, then they will have to make it happen inSpider-Man: Brand New Day.Matt Murdock did make a brief appearance duringSpider-Man: No Way Home, but he wasn’t shown as Daredevil at any point. Seeing him turn up in that role to fight alongside Spider-Man would be an epic moment, but he would need to be watered down slightly.Daredevil: Born Againworks because it’s so gritty and raw, not worrying about being polite and not offending people. Spider-Man doesn’t operate in that world, and that’s what would make it so interesting, rather than having it be the other way around. However, Marvel is being prevented on that front.
However, even if Daredevil doesappear inSpider-Man: Brand New Day, Kingpin won’t join him. That’s because the Marvel villain currently can’t appear in any movies due to the Sony deal. It’s another frustrating situation because Kingpin has been presented as one of Marvel’s most compelling villains, and adding him to a futureSpider-Manfilm would make a lot of sense. He’d be able to pull the strings from the background, but Marvel can’t fully explore this storyline. That’s why the recentSpider-Manteases are an odd choice because there’s currently no way of them delivering on it to its full potential.
