Mike Flanagan’sCarriereboot gets another exciting update, as it seems a belovedScreamactor is in line to star in an undisclosed role as Stephen King’s horror classic gets the ball rolling. Instead of a movie, Flanagan’s upcominghorrorwill be adapted into an Amazon TV series, with Summer H. Howell taking the leading role of Carrie, the shy teenage girl who is constantly mocked and bullied at her high school, and Siena Agudong as Carrie’s closest friend, Sue Snell.

Flanagan’sCarrieTV show will tell the story of a tortured high school student named Carrie White who discovers she has telekinetic powers. However, it’s not just at school that Carrie suffers from horrible abuse. At home, her mother, Margaret White, who was originally played byPiper Laurie in the 1976 film, subjects Carrie to terrible abuse due to her devoutly religious mindset and controlling nature. Starring the talented Sissy Spacek and directed by Brian De Palma, the 1974 movie received a lot of praise from critics due to its stellar performances and that iconic pig’s blood prom scene, with many calling itone of the best Stephen King adaptations. However, anotherCarrieadaptation was crafted in 2013, which starred Chloë Grace Moretz as the lead and Julianne Moore as the mother, but, unfortunately, it failed to live up to the original film, scoring a disappointing rating of 51% on Rotten Tomatoes.
