Summary
When someone possesses the ability to control, utilize, and manipulate the natural elements, it allows them to conjure up all kinds of deadly attacks that can help a hero or villain get the leg-up over their opponent in battle. In the world ofMy Hero Academia, when a character is born, they’ll essentially be rolling the dice to see what Quirk they receive, and while it’s a rarity, there are some who have been lucky enough to acquire Quirks of the elemental variety, providing a significant boost to their strength and durability, while also gifting them with a plethora of unique abilities.
What also makes elemental Quirks so fun to watch is how flashy they are in action, especially if the user is able to get creative to showcase their immense power in the best way possible. When taking into account strength and overall reliability in combat, though, this is how the elemental Quirks inMy Hero Academiastack up to one another.
8Solid Air
A Sturdy Air Barrier Is Always Going To Be A Useful Tool To Have On Standby
When deploying his Solid Air Quirk, Tsuburaba is able to create a small but sturdy barrier by solidifying the air to keep him and his team of heroes protected from incoming projectiles and abilities. For this to work, though, Tsubaraba needs a good amount of oxygen in his lungs to create a strong enough shield to fend off hard-hitting attacks, which isn’t always easy when he’s constantly on the move.
Reflecting attacks is one thing, but Tsuburaba is also capable of stopping an enemy entirely by solidifying the air surrounding them, which can be handy as a support tool for taking a dangerous villain out of the fight entirely, at least for a few moments before another hero swoops in to help.
7Earth Flow
Ryuko’s Creative Imagination Allows Her To Conjure Up All Kinds Of Weird Monsters With Her Quirk
By reaching into the ground and taking control of the soil, Ryuko is able to manifest the underlying power of the earth itself to create giant monsters which can strike fear into even the most experienced of villains. However, what makes Earth Flow so useful is the limitless number of ways it can be utilized. Whether it’s a giant monster, a durable shield, or even a deadly weapon, Earth Flow can take all kinds of unique forms, making it easy for Ryuko to adapt to a situation.
The speed of Earth Flow is another reason why it’s considered such a great Quirk for a hero to have as a counter, since mostvillains won’t waste any time in trying to kill as many people as possiblewith their own set of dangerous abilities. It might not feature the same explosive firewpower as some of the other element-based Quirks, but the flexibility of its use cases is what makes Earth Flow so valuable.
6Water Control
Water Control Is Only Used Once In The Series, But It Deals A Ton Of Damage
Water Control is used by Dozaemon very early on in the story, and within itsbrief amount of screentime, it’s shown to be an immensely powerful Quirk, one which is strong enough to cut entire ships in half with its strength and accuracy. As the name implies, Water Control lets the user manipulate the water element, so long as there is already water around them for them to control.
The sheer force of Dozaemon’s waves makes it easy for him to knock back anyone who looks at him the wrong way, allowing him to keep a safe distance while slicing and dicing his enemies with razor-sharp water attacks. While this Quirk isn’t always entirely reliable considering there needs to be some nearby water source for the user to rely on, it’s an otherwise small drawback to an extremely powerful elemental Quirk.
5Air Cannon
Air Cannon Is Powerful Enough To Deflect Attacks From Even the Legendary All Might
Despite being just one ofmany Quirks possessed by All For One, Air Cannon turns out to be a real stand-out of his arsenal, and an ability he ends up throwing out on more than a few occasions. The first instance of this is when All For One holds back one of All Might’s punches during their first confrontation in the main story, which is no easy feat considering the man behind the attack.
The range and radius of Air Cannon make it a Quirk that any hero or villain would be happy to get their hands on, especially as it also doesn’t seem to have any significant drawbacks to the person using it. Air Cannon allows a person to remain completely protected from even the most dangerous of heroes and villains, making it a highly-valued elemental Quirk.
4Whirlwind
Inasa Can Wipe Out Entire Armies With His Lethal Whirlwinds
Inasa, the plucky and highly talented top student of Shiketsu, possesses one of the most versatile Quirks in the entire series. Because Inasa can control the air itself, he can summon whirlwinds to either sweep up a group of civilians to guide them to safety, or to annihilate a swarm of villains by tossing them around the environment like ragdolls, as he did with thearmy of Twice clones.
What also makes the Whirlwind Quirk so deadly is the expertise of the person using it. Inasa can control multiple deadly typhoons simultaneously without being swept off his feet, making him an incredibly intimidating hero in the eyes of many villains. Though he doesn’t receive all that much screentime in the show, Inasa’s air-based Quirk is still shown to be one of the strongest Quirks out there.
3Blueflame
Dabi’s Fiery Quirk Has Caused Some Severe Damage To Multiple Pro-Heroes
When it comes toraw offensive power, there aren’t many Quirks in the series that can compare to Blueflame. As the story goes on, the villainous Dabi gradually starts to become more comfortable using his Quirk, resulting in him becoming a huge thorn in the side of the heroes. For example, it was Dabi who would scorch Hawks' wings using his Blueflame Quirk, putting the number 2 Pro-Hero out of action, and ultimately resulting in him losing his wings altogether a little late.
Once the final war rolls around, Dabi has become so numb to the pain of his own Quirk that he turns into a ticking time bomb whose flames came very close to obliterating an entire city in one final explosive blast. Though Dabi’s Quirk does contain a massive drawback, which is only amplified by Dabi specifically because of his genetics, it’s hard to ignore the sheer amount of damage it can deal when he decides to throw down.
2Half-Cold Half-Hot
Todoroki Can Use His Quirk As Both An Offensive Weapon And Defensive Shield
Todoroki may not be all that thrilled about owning the fire-side of hs Quirk at first, but as hegrows and matures throughout the story, he soon comes to accept and embrace its ferocious potential, especially when used alongside his ice powers. During the early exams, Todoroki was able to use his Quirk to create long icy pathways to help him outmaneuver his opponents, before then blasting them away with a giant fireball or flamethrower.
It’s clear that being able to use Half-Cold Half-Ice, let alone master it, takes a lot of time and hard work, but Todoroki has got it to a point where he can make quick work of any villains who are seen as a serious threat to hero society. A Quirk that Todoroki may not have wanted, but one that would help him overcome plenty of tough opponents in his many adventures alongside Midoriya.
1Hellflame
“Hellflame” Is A Name That Sends A Chill Down The Spine Of Any Villain Who Hears It
While Endeavor’s grit and determination play a big part in getting him to the number 1 Pro-Hero spot, the main reason he was able to earn this prestigious position is his Hellflame Quirk. Endeavor can melt a villain to nothing but ash without even breaking a sweat, but when he does decide to go all out, unleashing hisProminence Burn, he can decimate even the toughest of opponents.
Endeavor put the insane power of Hellflame on full display when he fought against the High-End Nomu known as Hood, but he would also have a great showing against Shigaraki, who would be severely injured by Japan’s top hero. Dabi’s flames may burn hotter than Endeavor’s, but being able to throw out such devastating attacks, without having to put his body at risk in the process, makes Hellflame much more reliable than its counterpart, while still being more than strong enough to burn through a villain, even if they possess regenerative abilities.
