My Hero AcademiaAuthor Kohei Horikoshi recently treated fans to a lot of exciting new juicy information, all thanks to the latest Fanbook, called Ultra Age, which was released recently. As expected, these databooks reveal a ton of extra information to the fans about character lore, and quirks, along with much else.
Naturally, this book, likely being the last one, gave fans a ton of exciting information as well, and most of all, it confirmed something that fans had been waiting to see for a long time, and that is Deku and Bakugo’s rivalrystarting once again.
How Deku Became A Hero Once Again
Fans who have readMy Hero Academiaknow very well that while Deku ended the final war in the story, things didn’t end well for the character.Deku, despite showing a terrific performanceat the end ofMy Hero Academia, lost his Quirk and ended up becoming rather weak. Without a Quirk, Deku couldn’t be a Hero, so he ended up becoming a teacher in UA.
However, it didn’t take him long to join the ranks of his fellow Pro Heroes once again. After the 8-year timeskip in My Hero Academia, Deku was offered a Pro Hero Suit, similar to the one that was worn by All Might in his last battle against All For One. In Deku’s case, the suit is far stronger and better.
Bakugo And Deku Are Rivals Once Again
Deku Is A Hero Once Again
While Bakugo was competing against other Heroes right from the get-go, trying to get better at his job and stronger at the same time, fans know that he missed competing with Deku. One of the biggest reasons for his incredible drive was because he wanted to surpass Deku and after the latter lost his Quirk, Bakugo almost lost his drive.
Bakugo did start on the Hero Billboard as the Number 5 Hero, but he soon plummeted down the ranking charts, largely due to his bad behavior. Bakugo was recently confirmed to have the Number 15 rank.
In the latest My Hero Academia Fanbook, Ultra Age, there is another One-shot that essentially confirms to the fans that Bakugo Katsuki has risen through the ranks once again. Now,Bakugo is the Number 5 Hero, which shows how much progress he has made.
Most importantly, he is competing with Deku once again. It has also been confirmed that Deku is the Number 4 Hero right now, pulling ahead of Bakugo even without a Quirk. It is highly likely that seeing Deku blaze up the ranking charts motivated Bakugo once again, and that’s why he jumped up so high.
All in all,it is great to see Bakugo compete with Deku once again, and while Bakugo is behind him right now, he’ll definitely try his best to pull ahead in the future. It is only a matter of time before that happens, and hopefully, fans will get another major update on their Hero rankings and progress as Heroes soon enough.
My Hero Academia Volume 42 is out in Japan now! The English version of the volume will be released in 2025. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
