My Hero Academiafans were quite upset at Horikoshi for not giving them a proper conclusion to the plotline of Deku’s romance with Ochaco Uraraka at the end of the story. However, the epilogue chapter, also known as My Hero Academia Chapter 431, made amends.
This chapter was published as an extra inMy Hero AcademiaVolume 42, and it featured all the Hero students over 8 years after the conclusion of the Final War. It is here that Horikoshi officially confirmed to the fans that Deku and Ochaco were dating, but it appears that some fans still held doubts about what truly happened in My Hero Academia’s Epilogue. Now,Horikoshi has once again highlightedtheir relationship, much to the joy of some fans, and to the dismay of others.
How Deku and Ochaco Ended Up Together In My Hero Academia
Deku and Ochaco have always had feelings for each other and fans know this. Their feelings were quite apparent from the very early parts ofMy Hero Academia, and fans were waiting for them eventually ending up together at the end of the story. Unfortunately, inMy Hero AcademiaChapter 430, there were no major developments in this regard. That said, My Hero Academia Chapter 430 made amends and fixed things right up. After the reunion that happened following Shoto Todoroki’s moving up to the position of #2 hero in Japan,Deku and Ochaco finally got the opportunityto spend some time together.
To be more precise, it was Deku who, after being affected by Bakugo’s words, sought out Ochaco Uraraka and wanted to spend more time with her, showing his interest. Ochaco, having been thinking about their relationship as well, agreed to this, and the two finally held hands, blushing as they did that. Clearly, this was them taking their relationship to the next level, and Horikoshi clearly meant for this to be a proper indicator. Horikoshi generally avoids putting labels on things because of the fans, but here, he couldn’t have made it any clearer.
Horikoshi Once Again Confirms Deku and Ochaco Are Dating
Naturally, some fans weren’t happywith Deku and Ochaco ending up togetherand tried to twist the narrative. Others were simply confused by the ending, even though the setup was rather obvious. So, in a question-and-answer event, Horikoshi was asked whether Deku and Ochaco confessed their feelings for each other or not. Here’s what Horikoshi had to say to that:
Question: Did Ochako finally confess her feelings to Deku?
Horikoshi: Please read Manga Volume 42 and use your own imagination for that answer.
As is quite clear,Horikoshi is rather surprised by the questionbecause, in the manga, it is quite obvious that Deku and Ochaco have made their feelings known to each other and are now dating. Horikoshi tells the fans to read Volume 42 again and use their own imagination, which is his polite way of saying that the fans already have the answer to this question and that Deku and Ochaco are dating indeed.
