Horikoshi is the beloved Mangaka of theMy Hero Academiaseries. He started working on the series in 2014 and left a decade-long legacy in 2024 as the manga concluded. However,gaining success was not easy for Horikoshi, and he faced multiple failures. Horikoshi even had canceled manga before he hit the jackpot withMHA, and it all got to a point that he was going to give up.

Horikoshi recently released the third and final fanbook for the My Hero Academia series, and in it, he reveals a lot of information about characters, abilities, and even about himself. In this book, he reveals to fans his inspiration behind the MHA series. Here’s what he had to say:
“Q: What made you start writing My Hero Academia and what was your inspiration?"
Horikoshi: [After previous failures], I took this opportunity as a final challenge in Shonen Jump.
So I decided to pour my all into drawing this series with the mindset that I would have no regrets, allowing me to do whatever I liked and draw whatever I liked as well.”
This message, along with the test of the last fanbook, has definitely moved fans.Fans can only hope that Horikoshi will still release some new contentevery once in a while, and maybe the new manga that he plans on making eventually will carry the same elements people loved aboutMHA.
