Summary
Although theMy Hero Academiamanga concluded almost a year ago, Kohei Horikoshi keeps expanding this beloved super-powered world in many ways. First,he made an epilogue (Chapter 431) for Volume 42 of the manga. Now he has writtenMy Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book, an official data book that Shueisha released very recently in Japan.
Like the other data books in the series, it contains exclusive, never-before-seen information about almost every character. However, this one is especially exciting, revealing fascinating information about events that transpired after the ending of the story. Horikoshi also wrote and illustrated a final 6-page-long one-shot that showed fans what is currently going on with Deku, Eri, All Might, and other popular characters. There are a lot of interesting tidbits inMy Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book, but the following are the biggest standouts.
8Tomura Shigaraki’s Original Quirk
All For One Stole And Used Tenko Shimura’s Old Quirk
During the Final War Arc,All For One revealed thatDecaywasn’t Tomura Shigaraki’s original quirk, and that he gave him a modified version of Overhaul’s quirk in order to manipulate him from an early age. This revelation was the focus of one of the most shocking but controversial moments in the story. It also left most fans wondering: what was Shigaraki’s original quirk?
InThe Final Fan Book, Horikoshi revealed that Tenko Shimura was born with a repulsion quirk, which would have seemingly allowed him to stay in the air. Observant fans were quick to notice that this is similar to Float, the quirk of his late grandmother, Nana Shimura. Audiences actually got to see a version of this power during the Final War Arc, since the yellow circle that the rejuvenated All For One generated to move around was created by combining Tenko’s stolen quirk with a few others in his collection.
7All For One’s Real Name
The Real Identity Of The World’s Greatest Villain
All For One is the biggest villain inMy Hero Academia. But, of course, All For One is just his villain name, which is obviously based on his quirk. For years, fans questioned what his real name was. They got half of an answer during the Final War Arc: his last name is Shigaraki, which explains the new identity he bestowed upon Tenko Shimura.
Horikoshi finally revealed All For One’s full name inThe Final Fan Book:Zen Shigaraki. This may not seem all that exciting at first, butMy Hero Academiafans spent years wondering what his real name was, so this new piece of information is satisfying for many people.
6Himiko Toga Almost Survived
But Bakugo Was Always Meant To Come Back
During the Final War Arc,Himiko Toga’s story came to a tragic conclusionwhen she decided to redeem herself by sacrificing her own blood to save her friend and rival, Ochaco Uraraka. InThe Final Fan Book, Horikoshi revealed that he originally planned to keep her alive. He even came up with a scene in which Ochaco would go back to the forest after the war, and leave a syringe with her own blood for Toga to consume. However, after discussing it with his editor, he decided that killing Toga off would be the most appropriate conclusion for her character.
On the other hand,Katsuki Bakugo’sfake-out death was always supposed to be temporary. His initial death scene was written to convey how powerful Shigaraki had become, but Horikoshi already planned to bring him back. However, he also wondered if fans were going to be able to wait for so long. Despite all the controversy surrounding this scene, their patience was worth it.
5There’s A New #1 Pro Hero In America
Star And Stripe’s Replacement Is Already Thriving
Cathleen Bate, better known asStar and Stripe, was the #1 Pro Hero of the United States, until she sacrificed herself to stop All For One and Tomura Shigarakifrom stealing her overpowered quirk, New Order. Unfortunately, audiences didn’t get to learn more about America’s situation after her death, aside from a few minor tidbits during the Final War Arc and the Epilogue Arc. Many wondered who took the #1 place in the country after Cathleen’s death.
But now they know that the United States has chosen their next #1 Pro Hero. Her name isAgate Minou, and her quirk is called Fault Line. This is a mind-blowing revelation, but those are the only details Horikoshi wrote about her inTheFinal Fan Book, which has left fans dying to know more about her personality, her design, and her powers.
4Hitoshi Shinso Is A Walking Aizawa Tribute
Class 2-A Addition Cuts His Hair To Resemble His Mentor
Hitoshi Shinsois a popularMy Hero Academiawho was unfairly judged, because his Brainwashing quirk made him seem like a villain. Fortunately, he proved everybody wrong by playing a key role during the final arcs of the series. He even eventually joined Class 2-A in U.A. High School’s Hero Course, alongside Deku and all his friends. Chapter 431 showed that he went on to become a strong Pro Hero after his graduation.
Horikoshi revealed a few more interesting tidbits about Shinso inThe Final Fan Book. The most endearing one is that he lets his hair grow in order to look like his mentor, Shota Aizawa. Furthermore, Shinso seems to be working in the shadows as more of a solitary hero, like Eraser Head. The general Japanese public is not very aware of his work, but those who know of him trust him a lot.
3Eri’s Happy Ending
Class 1-A Inspired Eri To Become A Popular Musician
The most exciting part ofThe Final Fan Bookis an illustrated one-shot that reveals fascinating information about a few characters. One of those characters isEri.In this one-shot, Eri is a teenager who visits U.A. High School to see Deku, only to find out he’s not there. It’s also revealed that she has become a talented musician who’s going to make her official debut the following weekend, and that Kyoka Jiro has been helping her.
This is an adorable conclusion for Eri, a character that was able to have a normal life, despite her powerful quirk and the cruel abuse she had to endure because of it. At the end of the day, Mirio, Deku and the rest of Class 1-A were able to help her overcome her trauma and inspired her to become a musician that could make other people smile.
2All Might Is U.A. High School’s Vice-Principal
A Perfect Ending For Japan’s Symbol Of Peace
For many years, fans were sure thatAll Mightwas going to die at some point, especially after he retired. However, not only did this never happen, but he also played a key role during the Final War Arc when he used his Armored All Might armor to briefly confront All For One. Not killing him was a brilliant decision that kept the plot more unpredictable, and allowed Toshinori Yagi to grow as a former Pro Hero who could teach and help others without any powers.
This unexpected but satisfying sentiment was already displayed in Chapter 430, where All Might was chosen to be the person who gave Deku his new armored suit. The new one-shot kept it going, revealing that he became the new Vice-Principal of U.A. High School. The famous Symbol of Peace can now teach a new generation of aspiring heroes, and he’ll likely become Principal after Nezu retires.
1Deku Is The New #4 Pro Hero Of Japan
Bakugo Also Rose Through The Rankings After His Rival’s Comeback
Izuku Midoriyahad to sacrifice One For All in order to save and defeat Shigaraki during the Final War Arc, so he decided to become a teacher at U.A. High School after graduating. At the end of Chapter 430, his friends gifted him an advanced armored suit that would allow him to become a Pro Hero once again, and in Chapter 431, audiences got to see it in action for a brief moment.
InThe Final Fan Book’s final one-shot, it is revealed that Izuku’s comeback was very well-received in Japan. He recently became the #4 Pro Hero on the country’s Hero Billboard Charts, where he goes by the legendary epitaph of theOne For All Hero: Deku.Bakugo also rose through the ranks and recently became the #5 Pro Hero, which is fascinating considering he had previously fallen to #15 because of his aggressive attitude. It seems that his lifelong rival’s return was enough to inspire him to become a better Pro Hero.
