Summary
Quick Links
Quirks inMy Hero Academiadefine every character’s strength. But not every quirk is on the same level. A strong quirk can take one to the heights of the hero world. One For All has been at the center of the anime’s plot since the beginning. From making All Might one of the greatest heroes, to helping Deku realize his dream of becoming a hero, One For All has easily taken its spot as one of the strongest quirks inMy Hero Academia.
One For All is certainly very strong, but that is exactly what makes it difficult for its inheritors to fully utilize it. The limitations of its users to fully utilize this quirk make it possible for a few quirks to catch up to it despite being weaker.
Understanding One For All’s Strength
One For All is a one-of-a-kind quirk that is transferable from one user to another. It also gets stronger over time as each user not only transfers One For All and their strength, but also their individual quirk. At the time Midoriya received the quirk, it already containedthe combined powers of 8 users. Mirodriya went on to adapt to the physical strengths of the quirk and also learnt to use the various quirks that came along with it, like Blackwhip and Gearshift.
Quirks That Can Keep Up With One For All
All For One
It should not surprise anyone that All For One is the first quirk that is being mentioned. It is the quirk that comes closest to or even surpasses One For All. The quirk allowsits user to steal others' quirksand even give them to others at will. All For One’s inability to steal One For All is often looked at as its biggest weakness. But even if All For One can’t steal One For All, it can be used efficiently to fight against it. The quirk allows the simultaneous use of various quirks to create combinations that have not been seen before.
Rewind
A result of endless experiments and mutations is the rare quirk named Rewind. Its only known user is Eri, who is still not in complete control of this quirk. The quirk allows Eri to rewind the target’s body to a previous state, meaning she can not onlyrewind an ill body to a healthier statebut also turn someone strong back to a weaker state. Hence, this unique ability can be used to turn a One For All user’s body back to a time when they did not inherit the quirk. Rewind’s effect was confirmed when we saw Eri use it to restore Lemillion’s destroyed quirk.
Erasure
Shota Aizawa’s quirk allows him to momentarily completely disable One For All’s effect. As long as he has his target in sight,Aizawa can completely nullify their combat abilitiesby taking away their quirk. Quirk Factors are elements inside the human body that allow quirks to function, Aizawa’s quirk allows him to disable Quirk Factors, which also disables the quirk. But as strong as Erasure is, it can be stopped by simply moving out of Aizawa’s sight. Even if Aizawa manages to constantly look at his target, it puts a great physical strain on his eyes and can’t be used for a prolonged period of time.
Decay
Tomura Shigaraki’s quirk has been a fearful sightsince Season 1. It allows him to disintegrate anything or anyone that he physically touches. The quirk works with equal effectiveness against organic and non-organic matter, making it capable of destroying everything in Shigaraki’s sight. Coming in contact with a One For All user’s body will allow Shigaraki to immediately turn them into dust. Even if Shigaraki can’t physically touch his opponents, the quirk can still be used to destroy everything else around him, including landscapes and buildings.
Double
Double is the quirk possessed by the villain Twice. The quirk allowed him to create two copies of himself through touch. But what truly makes this quirk strong is that it also works on others, makingTwice capable of creating copies of anyone he desires. The quirk’s limitation of two copies at once is also lifted because the clones themselves also possess Double, allowing them to create further copies of themselves and repeat. Double basically allows its user to create an army if they desire to.
While each of the above-listed quirks have their weaknesses, they all stand a chance against the powerful One For All. None of them are stronger than One For All, but given the right circumstances, they have the potential to defeat a One For All user.
