Sasuke Uchiha is the deuteragonist of theNarutoseries. He was introduced early in the story, and he managed to win fans over in a short time. Sasuke was a genius who learned at an astonishing pace, earning him the praise and admiration of his classmates.
AsSasuke continued his journey, he faced many incredible fighters who pushed him to his limits, and these helped the Uchiha to better himself. Due to the presence of so many characters, Kishimoto had a hard time deciding which character would fight whom. Sometimes Kishimoto’s choices were odd, and they robbed fans of possibly some of the greatest fights.
Sasuke Vs. Neji Would Have Been The Best Fight Of The Chunin Exams
Sasuke and Nejimet before the Chunin Exams. Up until that moment, it seemed that Team 7 was a cut above the rest in terms of strength. However, the other participants soon showed them that they weren’t slouches. Rock Lee was the first to humble Team 7 with insane taijutsu skills.
As the exam progressed, the ones who passed the second stage had to fight each other in the preliminaries. In the first round, Sasuke was pitted against Yoroi Akadō from Otogakure. Despite the implication that Sasuke might have some trouble, it turned out to be a straightforward fight with the Uchiha emerging as the victor. Meanwhile, Neji had to fight Hinata in the preliminaries. The former dominated the battle from the get-go, and he even humiliated her.
Following their victory, Sasuke and Neji were chosen to be among the finalists.Instead of pitting one genius against another, Kishimoto decided to make Sasuke fight Gaara. On the other hand, Neji was chosen to fight Naruto. Neji and Naruto got into an argument in the preliminaries because the Hyuga had mistreated Hinata. Naruto stepped in and criticized Neji’s approach. So, it made sense for them to fight each other. Another reason Kishimoto decided to make Neji fight Naruto is that only the latter could bypass the Gentle Fist.
Who Would Win Between Neji And Sasuke?
Neji Would Have Obliterated Sasuke In Part One
The answer depends on when the two fight. If it were during the Chunin Exams, Neji would have wiped the floor with Sasuke. The latter was a talented fighter, but Nejihad much better control over his Byakuganthan Sasuke did with the Sharingan. Not only that, but Neji could also use Gentle Fist, with which he could block the flow of chakra in another person’s body. If Neji had landed just a couple of attacks on Sasuke, the latter’s tenketsu would have been blocked, and the Uchiha’s chance of survival would have been zero.
All this time I’ve been called a genius, so I cannot lose. —Neji Hyuuga
As previously stated, Naruto was picked by Kishimoto because he was the only one who could bypass the effects with Kurama’s help.
Neji and Sasuke’s fight at the beginning of Part 2 would have been rather interesting. At the time, Sasuke had learned many new techniques, and he was even stronger than Naruto. However, Neji wouldn’t have been too far behind him. After all, he was the only member of the Konoha 11 who achieved the rank of Jonin.
Neji’s Role Should Have Been Bigger
As the story dragged on, Kishimoto forgot about a lot of characters and completely sidelined them. They were hardly given any screen time, and fans had to wait for several chapters to even get a glimpse of them. Neji was one of the characters whom Kishimoto could have used better. In the first half of the story, he was celebrated as a genius who could go toe-to-toe with the biggest names, but things changed in the second half.
Despite being the only Jonin from Konoha 11, Neji was hardly given a big moment because Kishimoto was transfixed by Naruto and Sasuke. Things went from bad to worse for Neji as he wasselected to die in the Fourth Great Ninja War. He was killed in a bizarre manner and for a very underwhelming reason. Kishimoto should have involved Neji more in the story. If he were still alive, he would have been the perfect teacher for Boruto. Unfortunately, that will never come to pass.
