This time, fans will see Geralt of Rivia in a different light asThe Hunger GamesstarLiam Hemsworth picks up Henry Cavill’s sword to become the White Wolf. Cavill, who played the stoic monster hunter in Netflix’sThe Witcher’s first three entries, bid farewell to the show in the end scenes of season 3’s finale, after a final adventure with Yennefer and Ciri. Fans have already had their first look at Hemsworth in the role, as well as a whole bunch of teases about how he may be brought in. Thankfully, faithful fans of the series who might feel a bit lost without Cavill will still have familiar faces to look forward to seeing, like Joey Batey as Jaskier, Meng’er Zhang as Milva, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and of course, Freya Allan as Ciri. However, some new faces will also prove pretty exciting as season 4 will see stars such asThe Matrix’s Laurence Fishburne, who plays Emiel Regis, and Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart.
The Witcher Season 4 Welcomes Back Queen Meve
According toRedanian Intelligence,Rebecca Hanssen will return as Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia inThe WitcherSeason 4 after making her first appearance in the finale ofThe Witcherseason 2.For fans who have readAndrzej Sapkowski’s booksor have playedThronebreaker: The Witcher Tales,Queen Meve will be a very familiar face. The Queen of Lyria quickly became a beloved character throughout theWitcherfandom due to her quick mind, strong personality, and her ability to lead multiple armies effectively, even though she never had any military training. Of course, her beauty was also a keen reason many adored her. With long white hair combined with the white coat of her horse, Meve earned the nickname of the “White Queen”, but despite her hair shade, her face showed no signs of wrinkles.
As stated by Redanian, Queen Meve will reportedly show up in the final two episodes ofThe WitcherSeason 4. This is also around the period that the Battle of the Bridge is slated to happen, which is one of the many battles during the Second Northern War with Nilfgaard. After the battle, Geralt is then knighted by Meve for rescuing her from aNilfgaardian armyand is officially known as Geralt “of Rivia”.
Despite the show’s declining viewership, which saw a 67% drop in audience scores from season 1 to season 3,The Witcher’sshowrunner teased more possible spinoffs after season five. Along with Queen Meve,The Witcherseason 4 will add a game-exclusive characterfrom the very firstWitchergame. Roderick de Wett, a knight of the Order of the Flaming Rose and a Nilfgaardian Count, will be played by actor Jack Myers fromSay NothingandMasters of the Air.
Filming ofThe Witcherseason 4 was finalized in October 2024, and the show is expected to be released in the second half of 2025.
