Summary

Two newBaldur’s Gate 3mods have been released that massively improve the game’s new Photo Mode feature. Although Photo Mode was only recently released as part ofBaldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8, modders have moved quickly to give it some additional features.

Since launch, theBaldur’s Gate 3modding community has been instrumental in improving the experience for players by adding tons of new content to Larian’s RPG. Some mods are small quality-of-life fixes, while others are huge content drops. It all adds up to create an entirely new experience in a game that is already so familiar to so many. There are even some in-development mods that may take much longer to release, thanks to their ambitious scale. There’s oneBaldur’s Gate 3custom campaign mod that plans to add six to eight new companionsin the future, which is sure to be a hit with players.

As first reported byThe Gamer, it hasn’t taken long for talented modders to improveBaldur’s Gate 3’s Photo Modeafter the feature’s release in Patch 8. The first mod in question isUnlimited Photo Mode, created on Nexus Mods by user Cloweeeee. This mod allows players to take the Photo Mode camera far beyond the current restrictions in the game, enabling them to capture images from a distance. It also doubles the camera speed in Photo Mode, so it doesn’t take too long for players to reach these out-of-bounds screenshots. It does come with one caveat, though - going too far out can force graphical glitches to occur.

These Baldur’s Gate 3 Mods Massively Improve Photo Mode

The next mod isBetter Photo Mode, created by Nexus Mods user Volitio. This one makes broader overhauls to Photo Mode, “allowing real-time customization of camera parameters.” According to the mod’s creator, players can “adjust camera speed, rotation speed, range, and focus smoothing,” all of which can be changed in real-time. Both of theseBaldur’s Gate 3modsare compatible with each other, so players don’t have to choose between one or the other, either. While the new Photo Mode in Patch 8 is great, there’s nothing that modders can’t improve with ideas of their own.

With Larian moving on fromBaldur’s Gate 3after Patch 8, many gamers are wondering what the future holds for the studio. For now, Larian is keeping its cards close to its chest, although it was revealed earlier this year that theBaldur’s Gate 3studio is now fully focused on its next game. Given the lengthy development time for the type of game Larian typically works on, it could be a few years yet before gamers have any idea what the studio has coming up next.
