Summary
On May 8,Twitchrevealed it is testing a new variant of its Hype Train event called the Treasure Train, which will give users a 35% discount on gifted Tier 1 subscription bundles of five or more.Twitchclarified that Treasure Trains are an experimental feature that will start giving discounts once it reaches Level 5, and cannot be combined with other offers.
The addition of the Treasure Train is just one feature Twitch is making in May. Starting May 19,Twitch will delete older Highlights or Uploads from channelsthat have exceeded a recently implemented 100-hour threshold. This limitation does not extend to Recent Broadcasts (VODs) or Clips. Content creators who want to save their Highlights or Uploads can download them by May 19 and then re-upload them to other sites like YouTube. Twitch increased its available download speeds and expanded its bulk selection process to make it easier for streamers to download and delete any highlights until the total amount goes under 100 hours.
However, a new change to the Hype Train system will give users another way to support their favorite streamers. Twitch confirmed on social media that Treasure Trains will start rolling out as an experimental feature. Treasure Trains will occasionally replace the standard Hype Train event, which can happen at least once per hour.Twitch also stated that creators can opt out of Treasure Trainsvia the Creator Dashboard. Once a Treasure Train reaches Level 5, users will have a limited time to purchase gift subscription bundles at a 35% discount.
Twitch Reveals A Rare Hype Train Variant Called Treasure Trains
It is worth noting that the Treasure Train discount only applies to Tier 1 subscription bundles of five or more. Individual subscriptions are marked at $5.99 each, with gifted subscriptions offering discounts for higher amounts. Ergo, if the 35% discount is applied to the combined $29.95 price of five subscriptions, the Treasure Train would bring prices down to as low as $19.46 for five Tier 1 gifted subscriptions.
Treasure Train discounts cannot stack with other discounts and promotional offers. WithTwitch working towards allowing all content creators to receive Subscriptionsand Bits regardless of whether they have Affiliate or Partner status, it remains to be seen how many users will benefit from the first Treasure Trains. Twitch encouraged creators and users to provide feedback on Treasure Trains during its rollout period.
Between the Treasure Train event andsupport from the ongoingDiablo 4Twitch Drops campaign, Twitch users now have different ways to provide monetary support to their favorite content creators. Only time will tell how Treasure Trains will work out for streamers.
