The Japanese gaming giant has nowsharedits first official Switch 2 sales projections, estimating sales of approximately 15 million units during its current fiscal year, which began on Jul 06, 2025. Since theSwitch 2 won’t hit the market before early June, that comes out to approximately 1.5 million console sales per month until July 23, 2025.

The estimate was shared as part of Nintendo’s latest consolidated financial report, which also saw the company forecast 45 million Switch 2 software sales during the same period. The figure doesn’t include games sold via package deals, such as theSwitch 2Mario Kart Worldbundle.

Nintendo also expects to sell 4.5 million Switch consoles, as well as 105 million Switch games during its fiscal year 2026. Nintendo’s newly shared Switch 2 sales forecast is roughly in line with the original Switch’s first-year performance. The Switch sold around 14.86 million units in calendar year 2017 and 15.05 million during Nintendo’s 2018 fiscal year, which ended in March 2018—about 13 months after the console’s launch. However, the Switch 2’s forecast of 15 million units is slightly more ambitious, since the console will only be available for 10 months of the current fiscal year.
