The primary reason for this is supposedly the lack of a digital storefront in the regionlike the Nintendo eShop, which has led Nintendo to deem the market “too small” to justify an official Switch 2 launch at the moment. Nintendo hasn’t started allocating any Switch 2 stock for Central America, and sales aren’t expected to begin until at least 2026.
Switch 2 Delayed in Central America and the Caribbean
Nintendo also reports that the Switch 2 is expected to cost around $610 in Central America and the Caribbean, which was likely another factor in delaying the console’s launch in that part of the world. In addition to Switch 2 pre-orders not being conducted in the region, Nintendo isn’t yet sellingSwitch 2 peripherals like the Pro Controller, so anyone wanting to buy this hardware will have to import it from another territory once the Switch 2 launches on June 5.
Things also haven’t been easy for people looking to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 in other parts of the world, like the United States, where pre-orders ran out almost as soon as they were made available late last week. Retailers likeGameStop are reportedly investigating bot and duplicate orderswith the goal of reselling them to actual customers who missed out during the first round of pre-orders.
