8Honorblade Of Chorrol

TheHonorblade of Chorrolis an excellent longsword to pick up early in the game, as it has some useful properties that aren’t immediately obvious. First, if players pick up the blade but never hand it in, it counts as a quest item and thus has no weight. Longswords tend to be quite heavy, so this can save some carry weight early on. Secondly, even though it has no enchantment, the weapon’s damage counts as magic damage, so it won’t be resisted by physical defenses. It can even take out ghosts and wraiths.
Getting the Honorblade can be convoluted. Players have to reunite the Jermaine twins, and reclaim their family home, before they can get the quest for the blade fromFathis Ules. If players want to keep the blade, they’ll have to leave the quest uncompleted (or steal it back after the fact).
7Blackwater Blade

TheBlackwater Bladeis a longsword that can come in handy in one-on-ones against melee foes, as its enchantment saps the opponent’s Fatigue and gives it to the player. This means players can keep up those heavy-hitting power attacks while opponents will have trouble even blocking.
To get the blade, players will have to complete the quest “An Unexpected Voyage,” which is initiated by resting at the Bloated Float in the Imperial City Waterfront. The blade is in the hands of the Blackwater Brigand leader, Selene. Players can resolve this quest either violently or peacefully and still get the sword either way.
6Redwave
Ghost Pirate’s Cutlass
The Redwave is another good longsword to go afterearly in the game, as the enchantment has a fixed value no matter what level the player obtains it. The Drain Health enchantment is very strong against early opponents, though it falls off later in the game. The Redwave is also very easy to obtain, as players just have to go to the Anvil docks and speak to Varulae on the deck of The Serpent’s Wake. They’ll have to kill a few ghosts in the ship, too, so having an enchanted weapon or some spells is essential.

The Umbra Sword is a Deadric longsword that can be obtained by killing Umbra during Clavicus Vile’s Shrine quest and looting it. Soul Trap isn’t a powerful enchantment, but it is good for keeping enchanted weapons charged, or if players want todo some enchanting themselves. The weapon has a good base damage stat, as Daedric longswords are one of the best tiers of longsword inOblivion Remastered. The main downside is that players need to be at least level 20 to start Clavicus Vile’s quest.
4Thornblade

The Thornblade is a good longsword with apowerful enchantmentthat can disintegrate the armor of foes. It’s not the easiest sword to obtain though. Players not only have to close an Oblivion Gate, they also have to keep an over-eager NPC alive while doing so.
If players visit Cheydinhal and speak with the count, they’ll find out his son has entered the Oblivion Gate outside town with some knights to try and close it. To get the sword, players have to venture into the gate and return with the count’s son, Farwil. That’s easier said than done, with Farwil running straight at enemies and often right in front of the player’s attacks, but the sword is worth the effort for blade masters.
3Sword Of The Crusader

The quest to return the relics of theKnights of the Nineis one of the longest quest chains in the game, but the rewards are absolutely worth it. The Sword of the Crusader is one of the final rewards, meaning all the other relics have to be found first, but it’s one of the strongest longswords in the game. The other relics are worth having, too, as players will get a full set of enchanted armor (either light or heavy, depending on the player’s highest skill).
The enchantment on the sword can do decent damage at higher levels, and is useful against magic-users. The Relics of the Nine can be leveled with the player (and recharged) by replacing them on the stand in the Priory of the Nine, so there’s no need to worry about picking them up too early.
2Dawnfang/Duskfang

TheShivering Isleswas originally designed as post-game DLC forOblivion, but in the remaster, it’s accessible at any point in the game. Players just need to visit the Strange Door on a small island in the bay near Bravil.
One of the best longswords that can be obtained in the Shivering Isles is Dawnfang/Duskfang, a weapon that has different properties at night and during the day. The weapon will either deal fire or frost damage depending on its form, but the more useful effect is the Nourish Blade. This effect keeps track of the weapon’s kills, granting it an empowered form when it reaches 12. Duskfang saps magicka at night while empowered, while Dawnfang saps health during the day. The sword is obtained as a reward during the quest “Baiting the Trap,” part of the Shivering Isles' main questline.

If players are looking for a longsword to use at max level, the Madness Sword is one of the best choices. This sword can be forged by the blacksmith, Cutter, atCutter’s Weaponsin Crucible, a settlement in the Shivering Isles. Players will need madness ore, which can be found in the Shivering Isles, as well as a Madness Matrix to add the enchantment. When forged at max level (player above level 25), the enchantment does 20 points of damage to health on top of the sword’s base damage, making this one of the strongest longswords inOblivion Remastered.
