Summary

AnOblivion Remasteredplayer has spotted an Adventurer NPC while exploring a dungeon. Bethesda’s 2006 RPG was known for its quirky, one-of-a-kind characters, and longtime fans ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionare no strangers to stumbling upon a rarely seen NPC or a secret encounter that changes the game’s trajectory. Now, it appears a veteran player has come across one of these uncommon characters, whom they believe never appeared in the original version.

Oblivion Remastereddoes a great job of recreating the original experience with improved visuals, mechanics, and quality-of-life upgrades. However, it’s not an exact replica of the 2006 release. As players spend more time with the remaster, they’re starting to notice small, clever new details tucked away by the developers. Some elements, likeOblivion Remastered’s strange spectral horse, have even sparked debate among fans about whether they’re intentional additions or just new glitches.

As fans continue digging intoOblivion Remastered’s secrets, Reddit user Moist_Car_994 took to the game’s subreddit to share a strange encounter with an NPC named Adventurer. In the post’s title, they noted that they’ve been playing the game annually since 2013 and had never seen this character before. In the short clip they shared, the NPC is briefly shown attacking an enemy. Moist_Car_994 also mentioned in the comments that they immediately attacked and killed the NPC shortly after encountering him.

Adventurers Are a Rare Encounter in Oblivion

After Moist_Car_994 shared their rare encounter with an Adventurer, veteran players stepped in to clarify the situation. One user explained that Adventurers have been part of the game since the original release, with a small chance of spawning in 16 specific dungeons. Some fans noted that killing one can triggerOblivion Remastered’s Dark Brotherhood questline. Others added that while players can speak to these rare NPCs, their dialogue offers little in terms of lore or story progression. Interestingly, an Adventurer is always an Orc and spawns two levels below the player’s current level.

Adventurers, thepeculiar NPCs inOblivion Remastered, haven’t changed much from the original game. They still roam certain dungeons for hours, aiming to gather at least 1,000 gold’s worth of miscellaneous items, which means they’ll actively loot chests and containers along the way. For those looking to encounter one, there’s a 25% chance of finding an Adventurer in Dzonot Cave and the Ayleid ruin Talwinque. Other locations with a lower 10% spawn chance include Arrowshaft Cavern, Doomed Mine, Fort Black Boot, Fort Chaman, Fort Doublecross, Fort Nomore, Fort Urasek, Gray Rock Cave, the Ayleid ruins Hrotanda Vale, Kingscrest Cavern, Niryastare, Nornal, and Rielle (northwest of Bruma).
