Summary
A brand-newOblivion Remasteredmod has considerably expanded the Dark Brotherhood questline, allowing players to continue participating in the murderous group’s activities long after the storyline is complete. The Dark Brotherhood remains a highlight ofOblivion Remasteredas it was in the original game, so it’s cool to see it get even better.
Despite the fact thatOblivion Remastereddoesn’t officially support modsaccording to Bethesda, it was only a matter of time before the community got to work on creating new content for the game. According to Nexus Mods, the game already has over 2,600 mods released to the public, which is impressive given the fact thatOblivion Remasteredisn’t even one month old yet. It has some way to go before it matchesSkyrim’s 110,000 mods on Nexus Mods, but it’s still very early days.
The new mod in question is called “Dark Brotherhood - Infinitum” and can be found onNexus Modsby user ColdTyrant. According to the creator, it adds “over 100 randomly selected, infinitely repeatable Assassination Contracts,” with leveled gold rewards up for grabs for each target. These contracts are obtained from the Cheydinhal Sanctuary inOblivion Remastered’s Dark Brotherhood, with each one spread across the game’s eight major cities. New NPCs will be generated for each contract, so players don’t need to worry about accidentally killing someone important for another quest.
New Oblivion Remastered Mod Allows Dark Brotherhood Questline to Continue Forever
Completing any of the contracts in “Dark Brotherhood - Infinitum” also rewards players with Dark Tokens, a new currency created specifically for thisOblivion Remasteredmod. These can be spent with the scamp Creeper, making a return fromMorrowind, in what ColdTyrant describes as a “win-or-lose Bonus Reward Gacha System” where players can spin for random items. All in all, it’s a fascinating expansion on the Dark Brotherhood, keeping the fun going for a while after players conclude its main storyline.
With theOblivion Remasteredmodding scene already off to a flying start, it will be great to see how it develops going forward.
