Summary

AnThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredplayer recently uncovered a camera bug that put a bizarre twist on their NPC conversations. Bethesda RPGs have always been known for their many bugs and glitches, from game-crashing technical hiccups to minor quirks that are almost as entertaining as the game itself. This has naturally carried over intoOblivion Remastered, which launched late last month and saw the classic 2006 title and its two DLC expansions reimagined with updated Unreal Engine 5 graphics.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, and players have wasted little time in finding new and unusual glitches while playingOblivion Remastered- just like they did withthe originalOblivionnearly two decades ago. Some are surprisingly helpful, like an item duplication glitch similar to the one gamers used to stock up on lockpicks and other useful equipment in the older version ofOblivion. Others are simply good for a laugh or two, like a strange glitch that resulted in one player’s Hero of Kvatch resembling a cross between a reptilian Argonian and a feline Khajiit.

Reddit user akaanoner had a similar misadventure while playingOblivion Remastered, though the glitch they chanced across had more to do with how their character sawother citizens of Tamriel. As shown in a post on r/BethesdaSoftworks, this bug resulted in the camera being distorted in a sort of fish-eye lens perspective during conversations with NPCs. It also moves the camera slightly higher, resulting in the other character looking up at the player in a view that some users have compared to the meme of William Dafoe looking up at the sky inAt Eternity’s Gate.

Oblivion Remastered Glitch Sees NPCS Look Up to the Player

Others have reported encountering this bug inOblivion Remastered, with a few claiming that it can be fixed by switching the view to third-person mode, saving theirOblivion Remasteredgame, going into the main menu, and loading the new save file before switching back to the first-person view. The comment section is also filled with jokes about how the glitched view is similar to music videos from the late 90s and early 2000s or what it would be like to see the world asHalo’s Master Chief.

Not all of the bugs and glitches inThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredhave been as entertaining, as some players have reportedlylost their save files on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Bethesda has been working on fixing some of these more problematic bugs in update patches, but at this point, encountering the next strange technical hiccup has become part of the fun of theElder Scrollsseries.
