Reddit user Top_Debt_4280 shared their complaint regarding armor sets with theOblivioncommunity, highlighting that the Steel and Blackwood sets havechanged from how they were inOblivion. However, inOblivion Remastered, the two sets are completely identical visually.

Oblivion Remastered Fans Lament Changes

Numerous users have commented on the post, complaining about other sets of armor that have lost their dark coloring, as well. Fans have pointed to additional pieces, like theDark Brotherhood Shrouded Armorand the Black Finery, which have also seen color shifts that make them look more brown than black. Other players complained about similar issues with some variant weapons now looking identical to others. It’s not clear if this was an intentional choice on Bethesda’s part, or if it was due to a lack of time, an oversight, or even an engine issue, with some players pointing out that black hair seemed to be glitchy for them, either looking off-color or disappearing entirely at times. Top_Debt_4280 themselves voiced hope that the set is a placeholder that will be fixed in time.

While gamers aredisappointed by some of the small changes made to theOblivionremaster, the game has largely been a success, selling millions of copies within its first days on sale. Fans have also pointed out that there are already mods fixing some of these aesthetic issues, so for gamers who have access to modding, that might be an option to look into. WhileOblivion Remasteredmay not be perfect, it’s a far cry from some of the biggest troubled remaster launches, like those ofWarcraft 3: ReforgedorGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition, which were both heavily criticized on arrival.
