In Chapter 1147, Killingham scolded Sommers and told him that the Holy Knights are not in Elbaf to provoke Monkey D. Luffy. The conversation indicates that the Holy Knights take Luffy’s strength seriously, and they don’t want to do anything that would make the pirate target them.
Another example of the Holy Knights being fearful of Luffy is when Sommers scolded Gunko when she tried to coerce Brook into becoming her slave. Sommers told her to stop, as he wasin no mood to fight an Emperor. These two instances prove that the Holy Knights are wary of Luffy, and they know better than to earn the latter’s wrath.
When Will Luffy Return To Fight The Holy Knights?
Luffy Might Not Return For At Least A Couple Of Chapters
Luffy was last seen lying on his back after consuming a ton of food. His body had become round like a balloon, indicating that he had eaten too much. It is worth noting thatLuffy was lying down next to Loki, who was in a similar state. It is possible that Eiichiro Oda does not want to bring Luffy into the picture just yet. The author has already set up a massive battle for Nico Robin and Scopper Gaban, which is likely to take place in Chapter 1148. Both of them have the same objective— to rescue the kids from the clutches of the Holy Knights.
It is likely that Nico Robin will fight Gunko, who hurt Brook. Robin is highly protective of her crew members, so she will not let this transgression go unpunished. Meanwhile,Scopper Gaban will fight Shepherd Sommers. The latter is a sadistic and twisted person who enjoys inflicting pain on others. He also romanticizes the hurt and harm that he causes to people.
Gaban Will Attack the Holy Knights To Save His Son
Fans know that Gaban was sent to rescuethe children by Ripley after she found that Collun had been taken hostage by the Holy Knights. Scopper Gaban’s fight with Sommers will give fans an idea of how strong he really is. They already know that Gaban has incredible control over his Observation Haki, as he was able to detect the presence of the Holy Knights even though they were actively trying to mask themselves. Gaban’s Observation Haki will indubitably play an important role in the battle, as Sommers can create invisible thorny vines. A person with bad Observation Haki would easily be captured by Sommers, but Gaban is a different animal.

If Robin can hold her own against Gunko, Gaban can likely find a weakness and take down Sommers. Once he locates a weak point, the Straw Hats and other fighters can target it. Furthermore, it is plausible to assume that the Holy Knights and Gorosei have the same source of immortality. So, if Gaban finds a way to bypass it, then Luffy will beable to beat the Gorosei in the future.
Will The Straw Hats Lose In Elbaf?
Many fans have also speculated that the Straw Hats might end up losing on Elbaf, which might set up another timeskip, and it makes sense because some of the crew members are still too weak. However, this also means that Elbaf could end up being destroyed, and the Giants would become an endangered race unless they side with the World Government. If Luffy convinces Loki to join the battle against the Holy Knights, it is safe to assume that the heroes will win and save Elbaf from being razed to the ground.
