Summary
One PieceChapter 1147 did not have much in terms of action, but it had many important moments. Out of them, Robin and Gaban taking a stand against the Holy Knights was the most eye-catching. It’s quite clear thatRobin and Gaban are going to fightagainst the outsiders, and they will certainly be joined by others.
Out of the entire Straw Hat crew, only Luffy is strong enough to fight one of the Holy Knights without any external help. There is no denying that Luffy is extremely powerful, but he still has room to grow.
Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika Is Arguably The Best Devil Fruit
The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. Luffy ate the Devil Fruit accidentally after Shanks had brought it to Foosha Village. At the time, Oda kept its true nature hidden. So, fans knew it as the Gomu Gomu no Mi. It wasn’tuntil the Wano Country arc that theactual truth was revealed.
This is my peak. —Luffy
The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika allows Luffy to tap into the power of the Sun God. Not only does the Devil Fruit grant Luffy the abilities of Nika, but it also enhances his physical abilities significantly. These qualities make the Devil Fruit an incredible weapon to have.
Over the years, Luffy has more or less gotten the hang of it. He created multiple gears, each one for fighting an opponent of a different caliber. So far, Luffy has created three Gears with the help of training. These are:
All three Gears make Luffy extremely formidable, but they aren’t nearly as strong as Gear 5th. Unlike the first three Gears, Luffy did not come up with Gear 5th. If anything, it was the result of the Devil Fruit’s will taking over Luffy temporarily.
Luffy’s Gear 5th Is Ridiculously Overpowered
Despite not creating Gear 5th, it is by far the most amazing weapon in Luffy’s locker. In this form, Luffy’s hair, eyebrows, and clothes turn white. He also has a white cloud around his head.Gear 5th is the peak of Luffy’s powerbecause he is at his freest. While in Gear 5th, Luffy uses unorthodox fighting methods that would be labeled childish. It is worth noting that Oda wanted to take a different approach for Gear 5th, which is why it’s so unique. Although it is cartoonish, Gear 5th is mighty, and so far, it has managed to beat anyone. However, it has a big limitation. Luffy is unable to maintain the transformation for too long.
How Luffy’s Next Fight Will Help Him Improve Gear 5th
Luffy is currently in the Underworld in Elbaf, but it won’t be long before he joins the rest of the crew. Once he reaches the ground above, Luffy will likely fight one of the Holy Knights. His most probable opponent is going to be Killingham. The matchup makes a lot of sense for a couple of reasons. Firstly, both of them are Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit users. Secondly, they have Awakened their Devil Fruits. While Luffy is the stronger of the two, Killingham has better control over his Devil Fruit.
Ever since arriving in Elbaf, Killingham has stayed in his transformed state. This is a testament to his skills, as fans already know how difficult it is to maintain one’s control. As previously stated, Luffy is unable to maintain Gear 5th for an extended period of time. By fighting Killingham, the pirate could actually learn how to overcome this shortcoming. Luffy tends to evolve in fights, and the one with Killingham won’t be an exception. Once Luffy gains more control over Gear 5th, he will arguablysurpass almost all the Yonko, excluding Shanks. It is important that Luffy improve rapidly, as the Great War will be starting soon, and he must be up to the challenge.
