Haki And Devil Fruits Are Two Major Powers In One Piece

When it comes to the main power system of theOne Pieceworld, fans know that Devil Fruits reign supreme. Devil Fruits are mystical fruits that grant abilities to those who consume them in exchange for their ability to swim. The abilities one gets can vary, and Devil Fruits are as diverse as the human imagination itself, simply due to the fact that it is imagination itself that creates Devil Fruits. Fans have seen countless powerful Devil Fruit abilities in One Piece over the years, with some even being strong enough to destroy the whole world.

Around the midpoint ofOne Piece, Oda also introduced another power system called Haki, which is spiritual in nature and can be possessed by everyone in theOne Pieceworld. When it comes to Haki, fans know that it exists in two primary forms, those being Armament and Observation Haki. While the former helps the user summon their spirit and use it as armor for both offense and defense, and bypass Devil Fruit protection, the latter can be used as a sixth sense to detect threats and emotions, among other things. A third type of Haki is present in only one in a million people, specifically those who have the qualities of a King. Undoubtedly, these are the most important powers in the world of One Piece that fans know so far. Now, Oda has shaken the balance with his newest introduction.

Oda Introduces A New Overpowered Ability Called Abyss

One Piece’s Elbaf arc introduced fans to the concept of the Abyss. All fans know about it so far is that Abyss allows one to transport themselves through demonic summoning circles, as was seen with the Five Elders in the Egghead arc, and later, with the Holy Knights in the Elbaf arc of One Piece. But, it seems that the Abyss is more than just that. All the Holy Knights seem to have a special mark that allows them to use the Abyss. It is this mark, which shall be known as the Abyss mark until further clarification from Oda, that connects these individuals directly to Imu.

Those who don’t have the mark can’t pass through the Abyss. — Killingham

The powers offered through this mark are immense. For one, it seems that Imh can freely grant abilities to people with the mark. For instance, the Five Elders have various demonic powers which seem to be a result of the mark they bear. Similarly,Gunko has the Aro Aro no Mi, and this ability was also used by Imu to kill Cobra, proving that they can be transferred. Most importantly, the Abyss mark gives one the power of immortality.

The Immortality Of The Abyss Mark

The Immortality offered by the Abyss mark makes one incredibly overpowered. In fact, they can be considered to be invincible. The most shocking aspect of the Immortality is that no attack seemingly does damage to those with the Abyss Mark. In fact, even attacks charged with Armament Haki do no damage. Luffy, who is a user of all three Haki types, couldn’t even put a dent in the Five Elders, which goes to show that the Abyss mark is truly the strongest power right now.

That said,Joy Boy’s Conqueror’s Hakiwas able to nullify the powers of the Abyss through some unknown means. It seems the key to beating the Abyss lies in an application of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki, but that means only 1 or 2 people in existence can counter it. Moreover, even the most skilled Haki users, like Luffy cannot do anything against it, which goes to show that this power is stronger than Haki, generally speaking.
