Summary

APokemonfan has designed 5 Mega Evolutions concepts based upon the upcomingPokemon Legends: Z-Agame. The designs are based on existing designs from thePokemonseries, as well as some interesting folklore, real-life phenomena, and, of course, the artist’s imagination.

Pokemon Legends: Z-Ais finally bringing back Mega Evolutions, and many fans seem to be eager for it. The unique temporary power-up was introduced back inPokemon X and Y, but has been largely absent from most of the series' games since. The potential transformations that Pokemon can undergo via Mega Evolution has gotten a lot of artists' creative gears turning, and this fan has five unique designs to share.

On Reddit, user someguy944 shared Mega Evolutions for five Pokemon, including Mega Emboar, Mega Feraligatr,Mega Meganium, Mega Ninetales, and Mega Raticate. The artist also shared a video that breaks down each Pokemon, its typing, and inspiration. For example, the Mega Raticate is based upon the Rat King phenomenon, where multiple rats end up having their tails get stuck together. In this case, the Rat King Raticate takes it a step further through the souls of the Pokemon fusing together into the Ghost/Normal-type seen here. Mega Emboar has seen its flames grow so large that its bones have been tempered into metal, turning it into a Fire/Steel-type. Mega Meganium is a Grass/Dragon-type, Mega Feraligatr is a Water/Dark-type which can chomp through steel, and Mega Ninetales, a Fire/Ghost-type, fuels its flames with the life force of people.

Pokemon Fans Excited by Fan Mega Designs

Those responding to someguy944’s artwork and concepts have been extremely positive, with players pointing out their favorites. Mega Raticate in particular seems to be a memorable design, with players having strong reactions to Raticate being combined with theRat King phenomenon, though the reactions range from enthusiasm to being disturbed by the concept. One fan said that the Mega Emboar concept was so good that they wished it was the base form for Emboar in the games. It seems that all the designs have impressed fans, even if some of them are a bit unnerving.

Pokemon Legends: Z-Ais still slated to releasesometime in 2025, and fans are eager to see new official Mega Evolutions join the franchise. While the exact release date for the game is still unknown, Nintendo recently revealed that the game will be coming out for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, so fans who upgrade will be able to take advantage of that, but current Nintendo console owners won’t get left out. Whether the new Mega Evolutions can live up to the imagination of fervent fans remains to be seen, though.
