The story of Peter Parker in the MCU is not over, and with Spider-Man in literal full swing in the Summer of 2026, it’s time to look at some plot threads that could enter, or return in the MCU wall-crawler’s life.
Spider-Man: Brand New Daytruly is a new day for Spidey, a fresh start after the high school drama trilogy. With a new lease on life, Spidey can swing through the start of a new life, but there are some plot points that deserve attention to showcasePeter’s life and the chaos withinit.
6Mourning What’s Been Lost
Peter’s Grief From Losing the Love of His Life
While Spider-Man is a naturally light-hearted character with his constant quips and energetic movement, there’s also an immense sadness beneath the lenses, especially now. Peter Parker has lost everything. His girlfriend, his best friend, and even his aunt. Allthose important to his lifedo not remember him, which is why it’s important thatSpider-Man: Brand New Dayshows the impact that it has on Spidey.
While Spider-Man shouldn’t be a brooding menace, he should have moments of solitude where he is permitted to feel sorry for himself and pity the burden of his life as a superhero. Whether it’s seeing how MJ and Ned are doing from the rooftops, or simply reflecting on the life of a normal person by saving one.
5Addressing the Scorpion in the Room
Make it Clear that Spider-Man Has a Rogues Gallery
Since Spider-Man has left behind the identity of Peter Parker, it’s safe to say that he’s had plenty of time to save New York City and protect it from the super criminals that will inevitably sprout. SinceSpider-Man: Brand New Dayis set to arrive in 2026, that gives Spider-Man at least a few years of just being Spider-Man, unless the movie takes place a month or two after Spider-Man: No Way Home.
As such, it would be great if a Spider-Man mythos is established, and there’s at least a level of acknowledgment of Spider-Man’s incredible Rogues Gallery. While these characters do not need to be the central antagonist, the lack of follow-ups from Scorpion and Shocker, even in the RAFT, would certainly be a miss.

Taking Photos of Spider-Man for J. Jonah Jameson Pays the Bills
One aspect of the MCU that’s severely lacking is the importance of journalism for New York City, especially with the Daily Bugle. While the Bugle is reduced to a rather obvious satire of a certain right-wing radio show, it would be nice to see the Bugle return to a prestigious place of journalism, where J. Jonah Jameson’s hatred of Spider-Man ascends to new heights on the front pages, aided, begrudgingly, by Peter Parker’s photography.
Peter’s commitment to paying rent on time could be solved easily through work from the Daily Bugle, and while this is mainly just an excuse to see more of J.K. Simmons as Jameson, it’s also because the complexity of Spider-Man and JJJ’s relationship could serve asan interesting story down the line.
3Balancing a College Education with Crime-Fighting
Showcase the Mental Toll of Being Spider-Man
Outside of saving the city and taking photographs of Spider-Man, Peter Parker still has to balance his future… or does he? It’s not made clear whether Peter is going to college at the end ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, but if he is, then it would be nice to see how he struggles with the balance of dual identities, and how this time it will differ from his high school days.
Peter is a little older and a little wiser, so if he is balancing therole as a student and a superhero, then it would be interesting to see how he pulls it off, or if he struggles immensely with the burden of one life over the other.
2The Responsibility of a Vigilante in Fisk’s New York
Showcase the Burden of Being a Hero in an Anti-Vigilante New York
Recent advances in the MCU have seen Wilson Fisk take the role as the mayor of New York City, and the Kingpin is set to control this great city and put an end to the vigilantes that run amok within it. Since Fisk has ties to the criminal underworld, it’s no surprise that he’d use his political power to put a stop to those who could threaten him with vigilante justice, which iswhere Spider-Man comes in.
While Fisk doesn’t have to feature himself, although it would be nice to see him, it would still be great to get at least some mention of Fisk’s anti-vigilante police force. Seeing Spider-Man fight the corrupt boys in blue showcases how hard it is being Spider-Man, if not even the law is on his side.
1The Impending Secret Wars
Tease What Awaits Spider-Man in The Avengers
One plot thread that perhaps isn’t tooimportant for Spider-Man’s story, but is important for the MCU going forward, is what awaits Peter Parker inAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. The duo of Avengers films to cap off the Multiverse Saga are going to be vastly important, so Spider-Man will most certainly play a role, but what kind of role will that be?
Spider-Man: Brave New Daydoes need to focus on a Spider-Man story and not the multiverse, but it should at least tease what’s going to happen to Spider-Man when he takes the leap into the multiverse once more to save the world with the Avengers against Doctor Doom.
