Avengers: Doomsday Will Reportedly Feature Three Hulks

Who Will They Be?

Avengers: Doomsdayofficiallybegan filming in Londonearlier in the week and rumors from scoopers are already seeping forth. One such source,atlanta_filming on Instagram, made a post with the caption “One Hulk, Two Hulks, Three Hulks,” implying that Avengers: Doomsday will not only feature the gamma monster, but three of his kind.

For Hulk fans who have felt disappointed since 2018, this rumor has no option but to become a reality. For context, the last time fans saw Bruce Banner’s green alter ego in all his aggressive glory was seven years ago inAvengers: Infinity Warwhen he easily got beaten by Thanos on Asgard. Since then, the character has taken a drastically different turn. His transformation into “Professor Hulk”—a calmer, more cerebral version seen inAvengers: Endgame—left many longtime fans underwhelmed and thirsting for his raw, unrestrained fury. That may explain why Hulk (or Hulks) hasn’t been officially included in the cast ofAvengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and directorsJoe and Anthony Russo are known for keeping surprises. Besides, if he indeed is making an appearance, there’s no certainty that that Hulk’s major moment won’t be delayed untilAvengers: Secret Wars, much like how certain characters were more central inAvengers: Endgamethan inAvengers: Infinity War.

This brings to the obvious question: Which Hulks will be appearing inAvengers: Doomsdayand which versions? The natural guess is the Hulk family—Bruce Banner (Earth-616 MCU Hulk); his son, Skaar, introduced in the Disney+ TV show,She-Hulk, and Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk. Thaddeus Ross’ Red Hulk may also show a face. Who knows? As for the version of the Hulk, the concepts of theImmortal Hulk and World War Hulkhave been floated around in the immediate past, so there’s a possibility of these arcs sowing their seeds inAvengers: Doomsday. While it’s tempting to also include Mega Hulk and The Apex fromWhat If…? Season 3, Episode 1, as possible nominees, it would be practically impossible. First, the latter was destroyed by the former. Second,What If…?’s timeline is spread across multiple alternate universes rather than the canonical or “main” universe thatAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. For now, it’s a guessing game till it’s confirmed or debunked.
