Unfortunately for some, the passage of time isn’t always a positive thing, as evidenced by a post from Double Eleven developer Perdo Silva reminding players thatRust: Console Edition(as the game is known on Xbox One and PS4) will be delisted on Jul 29, 2025. The reason for this is that Double Eleven are working on amajor PS5 and Xbox Series upgrade forRustfor release in summer 2025. Thankfully for current players, all owners of the PS4 and Xbox One versions ofRust: Console Editionare entitled to a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions when they release.

Silva’s post further detailed the sunsetting ofRust’s “old-gen” console versions. Reaction to the announcement was mixed.
