The release date forSakamoto Days Part 2has finally been officially announced.Sakamoto Daysaired internationally on Netflix from January to March 2025, and despite complaints about the animation quality, the series was featured in the Top 10 for many weeks straight.
Although some hope that the second cour will fix a few issues fromSakamoto Days Part 1, it seems unlikely that the production team will have the proper time to work on most issues, soPart 2will probably be similar to the first one when it comes to animation quality.
Sakamoto Days Part 2 Release Date
Netflix released anew trailer forSakamoto Days Part 2, and finally announced the release date of the second cour — we already knew that the series would return in July and that it would air on Mondays, but now they have announced thatit will be released on July 20, 2025, confirming some rumors that have been circulating for the past few days.
The first cour ofSakamoto Dayscovered up to Chapter 37 of the manga, soPart 2will likely continue to cover theDeath Row Prisoners arc, the last arc in which Lu is one of the main characters — she rarely appears in the series from this point on, but other characters will be introduced and get some spotlight. Actually, Lu was likely removed from the main story because she wasn’t very popular among fans, and manga sales dropped considerably when the story focused on her.
What Were The Main Complaints In Part 1?
Many fans of theSakamoto Daysmanga were disappointedwith the anime adaptation because they expected the action scenes to have more movement. The series relies more on impactful frames than on complex, movement-filled scenes, so some scenes may indeed feel too stiff. In their opinion,Sakamoto Daysfailed to match the quality of series likeJujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, andSolo Leveling. Furthermore, the anime skipped many slice-of-life moments from the manga that could have compensated for the lack of movement.
However, even with many complaints from manga fans,Sakamoto Dayshad a strong viewershipon Netflix while it aired, and most “anime-only” fans enjoyed the series. This proves that the production was successful in turning the series into a hit, or at least fairly successful adaptation. While the manga vs. anime discussion will probably return in the second cour, the series will enter an amazing moment and will likely gain even more fans.
