Should Henry Give Money To The Ragged Man in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
In short, yes, players should give money to the Ragged Man inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2.Here’s why:
The Ragged Man can initially spawn anywhere on the Trosky map, but he’s primarily encountered outside Semine and Troskowitz. Regarding Troskowitz, he is sometimes seenleaning against the shrine just outsidethe town.
When players approach him, he’ll call out to Henry and ask to speak to him. From the start, Henry can just walk away and ignore him, but it’s worth hearing what he has to say.
After interacting with him, the Ragged Man will ask Henry for a large sum of money. He’s looking to get150 Groschen, and that’sno small price when starting out. Players can either give the money to him right then and there or ask a few questions about why he needs such a high sum and who, exactly, he is.
The Ragged Man will explain that he’s looking to return toWlaschim, which happens to be very far away. He even knows exactly how far it is from Trosky, saying that it will be a day or two ride to get there. He also insists that even though he is asking for money, he isn’t a Beggar. Clearly, this makes Henry suspicious of him.
At this point, players can attempt a skill check. They’ll need to choose eitherStatus or Scholarship. The Scholarship option cangrant the player some positive reputation, so it’s worth choosing ifplayers have high Scholarship. Henry will point out that the man talks in a very educated manner, and it’s odd that he knows exactly the riding distance from one region to the next. The Ragged Man admits that it’s because he’s a noble namedOdolen von Wotitz. He was captured by his father’s enemies a year and a half ago and managed to escape.
He needs the coin to get home. Once players have exhausted all the other questions and learned more about how Odolen escaped, they have the option of either giving him150 Groschen or leaving.
Players should give him the 150 Groschen, and when the option appears to give him another 150 Groschen, they should take that option, too. Odolen will be really grateful for Henry’s generosity. Initially, it will earn players extra Reputation, but the real prize comeswhen Henry encounters him again in Kuttenberg.
Once more, because he’s a random encounter, he can show up anywhere and at any time. However, when he does appear next, he’s no longer wearing tattered clothing—he’s in fine clothes.
He’ll remember Henry when players speak with him and tell him that he wants to repay the generosity that he once showed to him. Players will receive500 Groschenand a high-quality crossbow from him.
Therefore, not only do players makea 200 Groschen profit, but they also get their hands on a new weapon that packs a punch. Although players will have to wait until they get to Kuttenberg to see him again, the initial 300 Groschen investment is well worth it. If players see the Ragged Man inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2on their journey, then they should make sureto stop by and give him the money he’s asking for.
