Summary
ASilent Hill 3fan has impressed the community with their cosplay of the game’s protagonist, Heather Mason.Silent Hill 3shook up the formula by choosing a teen girl to be the playable character, with distinct ties going back to the start ofSilent Hill.
Heather Mason was somewhat unusual among survival horror game protagonists at the time of the game’s release, back in 2003. PlayStation 1 and 2survival horror games did feature a number of adult female main characters, likeResident Evil’s Jill Valentine,Parasite Eve’s Aya Brea, andDino Crisis' Regina, but teen-aged playable characters in survival horror were much rarer. WithSilent Hill 1andSilent Hill 2both following an adult male protagonist, switching to Heather’s perspective was somewhat of a risk, but she’s a popular character among series fans.
AlthoughSilent Hill 3came out decades ago, Heather still remains popular among fans, and that’s also the case for cosplayer andSilent Hillfan nekosandra. Nekosandra shared their Heather Mason cosplay with fans on theSilent Hillsubreddit, with strong attention to detail paid to Heather’s overall look. Heather’s iconic outfit has been replicated very well, with everything from the wrist straps to the thin orange layer above her boots present. Nekosandra also carries one ofSilent Hill’s most iconic weapons, a rusty pipe, with a couple of the pictures being taken in a subway station, referencing early sections of the game.
Silent Hill Fans Love Heather Cosplay
Many have appeared in the comments to compliment nekosandra on the cosplay, with many calling it accurate and perfect. Some joked about nekosandra appearing in a movie as live-action Heather, while one thought that the images were initially screenshots from apotentialSilent Hill 3remake. Another viewer also noted that nekosandra bears a resemblance to the new version of Ashley Graham from theResident Evil 4 Remake, to which the cosplayer noted that they have also dressed up as the President’s kidnapped daughter in the past.
It’s pretty clear that a lot ofSilent Hilland survival horror fans still remember Heather and her journey fondly. Players have remainedhopeful thatSilent Hill 3will get the remake treatment next, following on the heels of the successful and well-reviewedSilent Hill 2remake. At the moment, there’s only rumors regarding which game Konami wants to see a remake of next in the franchise, but it seems likely that the story of Heather and her father, Harry Mason, will eventually return.
