On Reddit, user Baekurly shared their frustration with a brief video of their character exiting theImperial City Arena. As they head down the tunnel leading back to the interior training chambers, their character hops up to hit the lamp hanging from the ceiling, which doesn’t budge. The player then runs back to it and tries again, only to find that it’s a completely static object. This is a change from the original game, which included physics for the lamp, allowing players to bump into it as they passed and cause it to swing around.

Oblivion Players Lament Change Amid Onslaught of Praise

Fans in the comments have been quick to share their thoughts on the change, with those who played the original expressing disappointment with the alteration. While it might seem like a silly surface-level change that doesn’t mean anything to some, others have pointed out that back whenOblivionoriginally launched, seeing so many objects in the game have physics was mind-blowing, and that includes the lamp. Several players noted that they included the lamp in a sort of pre- or post-game ritual, bumping it for good luck or to pat themselves on the back for a win.

For whatever reason, it seems like the physics properties were removed from the lamp, with it becoming a static object instead. It’s not clear why this change was made, though it was likely just an oversight. The vast majority of the game has remained intact, including some of theoriginal bloopers inOblivionthat made it into the remaster.

While this change likely won’t dampen most fans' experiences overall, those leaving comments have already talked about alerting Bethesda to the change. Some are hopeful that with enough complaints, the game might receive a patch fixing the issue. If that doesn’t work out, though, chances are that despiteOblivion Remasterednot having official mod support, a modder will be able to convert it extremely quickly for those who want it back the way it used to be.
