Jeju Island raidwas an ambitious mission for which the top Korean andJapanese hunters joined handsto form a strike team. Ant King, the secret dungeon boss, turned out to be a nightmare for the squad as he single-handedly killed several S-rankers without breaking a sweat.
Although Sung Jinwoo eventually defeated him and saved countless lives,it is noteworthy that Ant Kingwas barely a few days old. So one might wonder if things would have turned out differently had there been a different dungeon boss instead. Since S-rank dungeons are rare, the only other time humans defeated a boss of similar rank was when they fought Kamish in America. If he were to replace the Ant King as the dungeon boss, how would Jeju Island have turned out?
Kamish’s Frightening Destructive Potential
The Dungeon Boss Was Capable of Causing Untold Misery
Kamish was the dungeon boss ofthe First S-rank Gatethat spawned on the West Coast of America a few years before Sung Jinwoo’s second awakening. It was humanity’s first brush with a threat of such scale. The American government was proactive and humble enough to seek international help. The best hunters from around the world were called to the region, and they put their lives on the line to save innocent people.
Despite their best efforts, Kamish’s rampage was so violent that even the best hunters were overwhelmed. The S-rank dungeon boss destroyed everything in its path and laid waste to entire cities. The ensuing chaos led to the deaths of millions of civilians, along with over a hundred top S-rankers.
Kamish was responsible for the majority of damage and death. He wasn’t stopped until the current National Level Hunters banded together to fight him head-on. If it weren’t for them, Kamish would have put America in an existential crisis.
What if Kamish Replaced Ant King as Jeju Island Dungeon Boss?
Ant King was barely a few days old when he fought the Jeju Island raid party and almost killed the entire squad. He still needed time to evolve and reach his full potential but had the misfortune of running intosomeone as powerful as Sung Jinwoo. Meanwhile, Kamish had been around for centuries when he made it into the human world following the dungeon break. He most likely understood his strengths and weaknesses quite well, so he was far more successful than Ant King in unleashing untold misery on humanity.
Therefore, if Kamish had been the secret Jeju Island dungeon boss instead of Ant King, things would have turned out quite differently. Assuming that he too would have left the Ant Queen to fend for herself in the caves and targeted the hunters outside, he could have unleashed a bloodbath on the Japanese squad.
Even someone of Goto Ryuji’s potentialwould have found himself helpless in front of Kamish. He, along with the rest of the squad, would have been wiped out within moments after stepping foot on Jeju Island. The only scenario where someone in the Japanese squad could have survived is if they noticed Kamish killing their comrades and ran for their lives, realizing that they were no match for the magic beast.
Meanwhile, Kamish would not have had the patience to play with the Korean squadinside the Ant Queen’s lair like the Ant King. He is described as someone with an intense bloodlust toward humans, so he would have enjoyed slaughtering every single hunter he encountered without ever giving them a chance to escape. By the time Sung Jinwoo would have arrived on Jeju Island in this scenario, he would have only found dead bodies.
Would Jinwoo Have Stopped Kamish?
Only Jinwoo Has the Power to Stop Kamish Alone
Kamish was not only far more bloodthirsty than the Ant King, but he was also significantly stronger. The dragon was once a servant tothe Monarch of Destruction, and the only time he fought against humans, he managed to overwhelm an entire country despite it managing to bring in over a hundred top S-rankers from around the world.
I certainly got much more stronger than before. But for some reason, I feel like something within me get lost everytime I get stronger.
Sung Jinwoo was able to defeat Ant King without sustaining serious injuries. But it would be foolish to overlook the fact that the secret boss ofJeju Island’s S-rank Gatehadn’t yet reached his full potential. Jinwoo’s feat was impressive, but fighting Kamish would be far more challenging.
If Sung and Kamish were to fight, the latter would have definitely pushed the former to his physical limits. Perhaps Jinwoo’s strength would have been the ability to restore his health after sustaining serious injuries. This would have eventually become an important factor, asthe National Level Huntersmanaged to defeat the S-rank dungeon boss because one of them was a healer-type hunter.
The battle between the two would have been far more intense, but Jinwoo’s ability to summon his shadow armywould have also come in handy. Furthermore, he has demonstrated several times that he is a strategic mastermind who is quick to assess situations and devise effective techniques to deal with his enemies. While Kamish would have been an intimidating foe capable of causing serious damage, he would have eventually been defeated by Jinwoo.
