He made landfall in America, where he was detained by the Federal Bureau of Hunters. For the questioning, the bureau chose Hwang Dongsoo. However, it soon turned out to be a bad idea as Dongsoo told Sung Il-Hwan that he would kill Jinwoo. Angered by Dongsoo’s comments, Il-Hwan attacked him, resulting in the destruction of the building. Sung Jinwoo Met His Father In Chapter 165
Until the International Guild Conference arc, Jinwoo had no idea that his father was alive. It was only after the bureau shared Il-Hwan’s picture that Jinwoo found out. The Bureau also revealed that he was the prime suspect in the murder of Christopher Reed.
Sung Jinwoo met his father, Sung Il-Hwan, in rather unfavorable circumstances. Il-Hwan was on the verge of death as his body had taken a beating fromfighting two Monarchs at thesame time. He had done his duty by protecting Jinwoo. Once he realized Jinwoo could handle the Monarchs, he fled from the scene. Due to expending too much energy, Il-Hwan’s body was disintegrating. He did not have much time left, but luckily, Jinwoo found him.
The two shared an emotional moment as they talked about their feelings. The hero asked his father whether he missed his family, and the latter responded affirmatively. Sung Il-Hwan also apologized to his son for not being a great father to him. Il-Hwan also said that he wanted to spend more time with Jinwoo.
I’m sorry that I couldn’t be a great father to you. — Sung Il-Hwan to Jinwoo
Before fading away, Il-Hwan made sure to hug his son one last time. If seeing his father after so many years wasn’t bad enough, Jinwoo had to watch him die before his own eyes. So, it’s hardly surprising that even the strongest Hunter had tears in his eyes. Following his father’s death, Sung Jinwoo declared war on the Monarchs.
